Better days are coming for all of us! One thing at a time. Patience is crucial. We all need to keep an open mind to new ideas. I feel bad for your daughter (she is beautiful by the way) and what happened to her should not happen to any kid especially in this country. CHANGE is what designer T-shirt says from the Obama store.
I would be for it if the funds would only go to the people that really need and deserve it.
I forgot about the “Change”
I thought it would be distributed like it is now.
If you are able to work and don’t work you get assistance.
There is no limit on how many children you have after receiving assistance the more you have the more assistance you get, kind of like getting a pay raise.
I am drug tested in order to keep my job but it is ok to take money from me and give it to people that are not drug tested because it is discrimination.
A mile in those Shoes? I’ve spent half of my life in those shoes.
I have always worked too except one time when I got fired because I didn't get along with my boss because she was crazy! Sometimes things happen. Right now I am unemployed because I was terminated due to not being able to go back to work after 12 weeks FMLA due to my Hep C treatment. I worked in retail on commission so with the economy in the toilet they are not hiring anyone till things change. I am now paying $400.00 dollars a month for Cobra and still have not collected 1 single unemployment check. I have been in retail for the past 20 years and there are no jobs available anywhere. You are making it sound like you are the only one who likes to work and earn your keep. Just consider yourself fortunate for not having a disaster happen to you yet.
Life is hard, and mine has been no picnic. I just watched the dvd, "Amazing Grace" and I'm thankful for the no blanket, and no basket of food. I was born in a free country where I can speak my mind, work anywhere I choose, be anything I want, and practice my faith without oppression. God Bless America, and have mercy on us all.
My prayer is that this thread stays civil ;)...........really!
Our country needs HUGE change, HUGE! We are a great country that needs SERIOUS changes. Our great country seriously overlooks the health care and I do not mean the lazy, crack head, don't want to work bums. I work my a*s off, yet surely can't afford a long illness or surgery or the $3000. for 2 teeth fixed without it putting me behind. I am self employed and work, I'd bet, longer and harder than any desk job that supplies half a*ssed insurance. I pay my taxes. I am in the cracks as millions are, we make too much for help yet will pay $1000. mth for insurance after dx of Hep C IF I can even get it. Some are more concerned on are economy and others more in health issues. To think that all jobs supply GOOD insurance is unrealistic, absurd. I've had insurance several times thru jobs, it was usually cr*p and covered no preventative care, no routine paps, testing and denied nearly everything.
At this moment I need, way over due.....a colonoscopy, a 'skin change' removed-biopsies, carpel tunnel surgery on both hands, dx on what is still wrong with my joints/muscle AND root canals in 2 teeth. After 9mths of unpaid medical leave (tx) I can not afford it as the cost of it all is absolutely ridiculous. And I am not a 'poor' women, make dam good money, little debt. I do not qualify for anything in this country and while medicaid is charged $500. for a test, I am charged $1500, etc. The only way I got tx was luck in the timing of dx and a trial. Do those that aren't looking at every possible aspect of medical care have any idea how many suffer or die in this country from no insurance? Seriously!
Not to mention...once you are dx'd with something serious, you better watch your p's & q's real good, as the insurance company will drop you in a second.
And BTW….jobs? One place I work had 27 people apply for a low paying labor job. I know people with degrees digging ditches right now! The lay off’s, unemployment rate is horrific right now. All those people will also loose their insurance. Yeah, yeah, Cobra…..for how long while they have no income can they pay that? And many make $10-$12 an hr. , working hard, and they can cover medical cost?
NY Deb...........Whether you voted for him or not - there can be no mistaking that he has undertaken the hardest job in the world and we should ALL wish him absolute success.
Anything other than that is absolutely ridiculous.............
Absolutely!
Also...I too, am a 'worker', 3 jobs, raised 3 kids and have ALWAYS earned my keep, and the kids. That's a bit insulting, even if you didn't mean it that way, it is. I made more money self employed to raise the kids than $10. an hr. in a factory that had, usually lousy insurance. For the many that work hard without the benefit of good insurance offered, that is insulting.
