Thanks for the map. Very cool to see how I fit into the 'big picture'. And I'm with NyGirl on 3k and 6G. I knew there are 6 genotypes but all those letters??! Wow!
Thanks! I'd be interested in learning more about it.
Ok, I committed a far more serious error than just a typo.....I called you Joey!!!!
So sorry, I knew you had done the research and found the site, I just got distracted I guess.
I thought I might have contracted the disease when I was involved with a Vietnam Vet. I'm so weak in Geography, I had to find Vietnam on a map of the world, then go back to the Australina website.
I do know where Hawaii is though.....:) I'll let you know if I find anything regarding the genotype statistics there.
Wow 3k and 6g - those are geno's youd never think really even existed! Very cool map, I really liked seeing how varied it was a lot - much different than hearing it!
I'm pretty sure I became infected in the 70's as well, but I was in Hawaii at the time, (which is not really indicated on this map). I've not yet found any statistics on the most common genotype in Hawaii, maybe they are out there somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.
Thanks, I love new info on the disease, even though I cleared 3 yrs ago. I'm a genotype 2, and I always wonder how or who I got this disease from. I probably was infected in the early 70's, (can I please claim stupidity of youth?) but the people I knew who are hep c infected are all genotype 1.
But, it's not as if I'm out there asking anyone if they have it or what type. I left the town I grew up in in '74 and have lived 700 miles away for the last 30 yrs.
Thanks again for providing the link. I didn't even notice the spelling error till you pointed it out.
Thanks for posting the map on GT's around the world. Gets me wondering how the newest of GT's are going to play out as far as treatment times and SVR rates.
Glad I'm not the only one that spazzes out on my misspellings.....:-)
I love this map! Maps are my life and a great visualization tool. Thanks for posting it.
I hate it when I make a typo that I can't edit. I obviously spelled Genotype wrong in the title of this post. My apologies.
