Hi Melinda,

I'm fine!  In fact, last night was my 4th shot (not the 1st, thank goodness.)  I got to throw away one empty box -- 5 more boxes (of 4 syringes) to go!  What joy :-)

I had the bit of a bump in the road last weekend with unexpected company, but thank goodness too that our house is back to normal :-)

How have you been feeling?  Still itching?  My worse sx so far is the dizziness... it could be worse for sure...

Thanks for asking about me!

wow! Your tx is different than mine...I only have to do 1 shot per week...Do you take riba too?
Yes on the itching...and a rash too...It's even in my "gluteal fold" (butt crack)! lol...Aveeno does help..lol...I guess brain fog has set in too...I just remembered we started nearly the same time...lol...good grief....My stamina is being challenged a bit too...But otherwise, I'm good! I only got the dizzies for two days after the shot...I hope all is well with you! have a great weekend!

Hi !

I started tx on 2-8-08... I have brain fog too because it seems like I didn't start that far before you, but I have 3 more shots than you under my belt... I just looked at calendar and decided it would take too much effort to figure it out... :-)

Oh, don't scare me about maybe taking more than one shot per week!!  :-)  Although I think there are some poor souls on the forum who are indeed doing just that!!

My dosages are: 180 - Pegasys and 800 - ribavirin

What are you taking and how much?

Yikes about where the rash has appeared on you!  I have no rash so far, knock on wood... But, I think I would rather have rash in b.cheeks than dizziness... Hmmm... maybe it's a toss up!!  :-)

Sounds like you're doing mostly well, thank goodness!!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend too!

Keep in touch!   pK

hi ladies!  i am glad you are both doing well!!!
it is good to see you both posting.  keep drinking that h2o!!!
(i think trish77 was beginning today???)
i am trying to get mentally prepared for joining this journey on monday. (hospital @ 10:30am with the nurse.)  i am still trying to get things organized at home, too.
you two are scaring me with the brain fog!  i have enough of that on a normal day!
i am going to be taking the 200mg riba 2xday.  (mine ribas do not look huge, as others have said)  then the peg 1xwk.  pre-filled syringes.  i know you both said the needle is tiny, but it sure doesn't look like it!
i feel mentally ready.  i just want to get the first week over with and feel like i have begun, come what may.
hold those swords high!

now I am worried that I am not beginning with the right dosage!  I will only be taking 2- 200mg riba 2x day.  wait.  that is 800 mg.
see. i haven't even begun tx and I can not think clearly.
never mind.

Will be thinking good thoughts for you tomorrow am... I'm happy that the day is almost here for you!  Glad your appointment is early in the day so you don't have all day to wait!!

Yes, Trish did start tx -- yesterday, I'm pretty sure.  She posted that it went well and that it didn't hurt at all :-)  Hope you find the thread and read it...

By the way, my riba are tiny too (blue) -- they are GENERIC ribavirin vs. Copegus which is a brand name.  I've never seen those, but they might be the big pills people have described... not positive though...

Please post when you can post-injection to let us all know how it went and how you're feeling...  Take care!!

That would be pre-tx brain fog...lol   Your brain is full! You'll be fine...The sides I've experienced are more annoying than anything...But it was nice to have the electric blankie and a good book the first two days when I was getting the chills...It seems, that as the week goes by, the sides are less..except the darn rash is still there...Feels more like little prickles...Ever get fiberglass insulation on you? It's kind of like that...My FIL suggested WD-40! LOL...It's like his cure all for everything..LOL You never know, I just may try it...
Pk...My dose is the same as yours...8oomg of the riba, 180 of peg...Btw, I was warned about the brain fog...That a person may find themselves just staring off into space on occ...Great, as if I need more of that...lol Have a great day!

Woohoo!!  You start tomorrow!   I absolutely go the jitters starting a day or two before tx and the evening before was a rollercoaster ... I will pass on the advice that snapped me out of it...be psyched up, not psyched out.  That last part is important.  At the least, don't get psyched out about it.   The first day really is a non-event.  You'll get through it.  Don't think about the 48 weeks or the 26 weeks ahead of you.  Take it a day at a time.  Before you know it, you'll be at 4 weeks like pKinCA!   I was most afraid of the injection the first day.. and it didn't even hurt!!

Aside from some fatigue and a bit wobbly on my feet for half the day yesterday, that's about it.  Today I feel really good, really clear-headed and even went out for my run this morning.  Now...I know that may not last...but I'll take the good days as they come because I figure this can't hold.  Might. but not likely, I'm thinking. :)

I will be thinking about you tomorrow!!  Post back when you're ready.. good luck to you ...it is a GOOD thing that you're doing.. others have done it before you, others will do it after you .. and the support here is tremendous...we'll all be here for you.

All the best to you for tomorrow.

Did I read correctly in another thread that you ran 9K this am??  That is crazy!!

Glad to read that everything went really well for you with the first injection... I hope you get really good results in your trial!  Thank you for participating in this trial that will make things better for everyone who gets dx'd after us!!

Keep us all posted with how you do in the next few days and weeks...

Take care,

Yes, did 9K this morning but I think that's going to have to be the last time. Actually the study nurse isn't crazy about me running.  So I think I just needed to get in that one last run like that and then cut back.

Thanks for the good thoughts and the support pK...I will for sure keep you all posted and I want to know how you all are doing as well.  So nice to be going through this with others. :)

Take care.

Just spent the weekend with my 6 month old grandson (who I have every weekend & Wed. nights~ this is what I DO) and wondered if this would be the last "normal" weekend. Will I be able to care for him?  Will my tx-induced mood swings warp him?  He is my peace, my love, and my light.  I am terrified that this will all change tomorrow...
I know the pre-tx jitters suck, but it really makes me wonder if it is worth it...
I know it will be fine. It will be.
just having a moment of weakness!
I am prepared.  I am ready.

You'll be fine! As I said, I've found the sides to be more annoying than anything...You may have so few sides, you'll not even notice them!  (I say this now with only one shot done..lol) Just remember, there are lots of people who you can "ping" with questions and solutions to just about every side the tx may toss up...The difficult thing may be having enough energy to wrangle that little one! (Just nap when he does!lol) He will be off and running in a few months..that should be enough time to sort things out...:)Breathe in...breathe out...The sky is blue, the grass is green...(Or if you're in WA, the sky is grey, the grass is soggy...lol)
