That is how I got the disease myself back in the 80s so it sure is possible.
I have had HCV for over 20 years. Sharing a straw with my wife for 5 of thoseyears didn't infect her and yes, there were times when there was blood present. However, this does not mean that you do not have it - by all means, get tested in the future to make sure but allow time for the antibodies to show up.
Sharing a straw or $20 has been linked to HCV.
Even if you are infected, its not the end of the world. Look at me.
Some people have HCV all their lives and never know it, and die in their 90's of old age.
On the other hand, panic and anxiety can do you pretty quickly.
So, breath deeply, substitute some Valium for the coke, and don't worry until the test results come back. And there are several tests, not just HCV antibodies present, that will tell you if you need to worry. You are not very likely to need to worry. When you find out you don't have anything to worry about, then substitute listening to music for the Valium.
Good luck
Good thing you didn't share a $100 bill; that would have increased the transmission risk 5-fold :o).
Try to relax, this is not known to be a significant transmission risk. It is possible, however- this disease is vectored via blood-to-blood contact. As mentioned above, wait for a month or two, and get tested for HCV antibodies; I doubt you will have contracted it from this exchange, though.
Learn from it, and live large, but live safe--
Bill
If U worri test, thats all u can do.If test pos. continune to worri. if neg stop worri !
Ok, take a couple of deep breaths. You are getting WAY ahead of yourself.
Why do you think you were exposed? Are you just nervous about it in general, or are you sure the guy has Hep C? Did you notice blood on the bill? There's a chance of passing Hep C that way. Have a test.
Let's not agonize about what you should or shouldn't do - whatever you decide, protect yourself.
thank you comeagain do both noses have to be bloody for this to transmit?
get a test made after 6 weeks. A long time agoo when HIV was quit new I`ve got through the same that u going through now couldenĀ“t rest untill I`ve done 2 testings.
BTW how long before U die in HCV it differns. I have had it for 35 years still alive, but many in my own adge has died almust everyone that had the same livestile that i had before, taking almust every drug avalibul and lots of it.
i know i shouldnt, do u know how long u can live with hcv for, im very nervous about this?
As far as I know, sharing snorting gear is not a risk for HIV. If you share with someone who has Hep C you do have a risk of exposure. Do you have any reason to suspect this person has Hep C? Can you ask him?
How recent was this occasion? Hep C takes about 6 weeks to show antibodies. If its 6 weeks ago or longer, get a test. Otherwise wait and meanwhile ask the guy (if possible) about his status.
Be safe, don't snort or if you do, don't share your gear.
