Hi Its been a year that I have finished my treatment now but the tiredness is ongoing despite trying everything. been to the GP and had bloods done and i found out that my ALT is raised again, higher that before treatment started.

has anyone come across this or does anyone know the what it entails?

I agree with those who said to get another VL test just to be sure. I know you were UND 6 months post EOT last summer, but I would want a VL test now if my liver enzymes were rising.

I notice you had an ultrasound before treatment but no liver biopsy, so you really do not know the condition of your liver. The ultrasound may not show much in terms of liver fibrosis unless it is cirrhotic.

There are many reasons your liver enzymes may be rising. You may have some other disease process going on.  If it was me, I would get an appointment with a Hepatologist and ask him/her to do tests to determine why the liver enzymes are rising and ask him/her to manage my care.

Best of luck.

When you say scan, do you mean fibroscan? As far as I know there are three ways of determining whether one has liver damage (some are more specific to the stages of damage) a fibrosure (specific blood tests), fibroscan, accurate but usually only used in Canada and Europe and biopsy.
I would speak to a hepatologist about your symptoms, maybe have your thyroid checked and investigate whether you are deficient in any vitamins and minerals, maybe take some good researched based supplements, such as HepTech.
But I agree with Dannyboi and frijole that we cannot diagnose the problem, it is all speculation at this point.. See your Doc and if s/he doesn't take it seriously, get a second opinion.
Good luck and all the best to you.

hi
before treatment , the scan did not show anything abnormal. . It took me nearly a year post treatment to start feeling better. The tiredness is present all the time tho.
there are still some days that you feel worst for no obvious reason.

I have 6 month svr as well and my alt is a little higher than it was on treatment
and I am very tired much of the time.
I attribute it to cirrhosis and am hoping in time as my liver heals, I will regain some energy and strength.
Do you know the condition of your liver?

I drink quite a lot of water and keep hydrated, also starting to cycle and get back to my martial art practice couple of times per week.

Saw the doc today and did some more test. they are checking my viral load and will know the results next week.

Im dreading the results as if the virus came back it would nees a 48 week treatment on Interferon and Ribuvarin. I am not sure I will be able to cope with that..

it is scary when you get a raised ALT this long after SVR  If you can't think of any medication you have been on that might have done this, I would ask for a viral load test.  You said you have been eating well and are not drinking so you need to find out what the source of this is.

I don't think anyone here can answer your question with the little information you provided, for one none of us are doctors. As you know it is something that would be better discussed with your physician since he or she would know your medical history. You can rule out a few things such as it not caused by meds, drinking or excessive exercise. It could be for a number of medical conditions, talk to your doctor and keep us posted.

Best of luck to you

i would say...drink lots of water to stay hydrated...push yourself a little doing cardio...that will make you even more tired at first but after a couple months will get you back in shape enough to start to feel better....i gained 25 pounds on tx...post tx i was so out of shape its took me a year just to get back into a light cardio workout for a half hour a few times a week....at first i almost passed out on the treadmill...my body doesn't do well more the 10 pounds over weight....so maybe lose some weight and get into cardio workouts and stay hydrated!

I see on your profile you SVR Aug 22 2012.  It's been 6 months since after your 6 month SVR results?  Are your drinking?  Medications? My Alt and AFP went way up from Flagl and levaquin anti-biotic.  What was your fibrosis stage before treatment?  One should always be kind to their liver after SVR especially if you had any fibrosis.

  Could be for many reasons.

Did you get a SVR? Are you taking any meds? Are you weight training? Are you drinking ?
