Riba speeding up your metabolism

The higher calorie intake doesn't seem to be helping much, especially since my Riba was increased.  I read where some people say the Riba speeds them up.  Although, I wake up feeling lethargic when its time to go to bed I just lay there--that's where the Xanax comes it.  I am wondering if Riba has this affect is it possible to speed up ones whole metabolism, thus explaining the weight loss.

"why the Riba affects us more in the evening, but I experienced the very same thing you all are describing..."  DITTO Here.

Regarding weight loss - I think it is muscle.

I also have an appetite but have lost around 8 lbs.

I take benedryl at night - it helps with sleep, restlessness, & iching. :)

I don't know the answer to Isobella's question about why the Riba affects us more in the evening, but I experienced the very same thing you all are describing...couldn't get going in the morning, stayed up late at night because just not tired at bedtime, also started gabbing at my husband when he was trying to go to sleep...when I wasn't lingering at the computer because I couldn't lay down yet.

I've stayed within 2 lbs of my regular weight throughout tx and after.  While on tx I drank whole organic milk and ate whole-milk yogurt every day.  Maybe that's why I didn't lose wt on tx.  When I finished the Riba I started cutting down my fat intake, and I guess that has worked for me, since I haven't started gaining.

I noticed when my vital signs were taken so frequently during tx that my pulse was always 15-20 BPM higher than pre-tx, and BP was higher also.  A higher pulse could be related to anemia, but that wouldn't account for the higher BP, I don't think.

At the one-month post-tx visit my vitals were back to normal.  So it makes sense to me too that Riba must make our metabolism speed up, and that would surely be one of the reasons for the wt loss.  I haven't done any research, just going on my own observations.  I felt like the inside of my body was lit up, a very strange feeling.

If you can tolerate milk products, maybe adding some whole-fat milk or yogurt would help with your weight loss.  (I like those products because they're sooooo creamy:)  I took my morning Riba with 4 oz of whole-milk yogurt (Yobaby, organic, made for babies but really good!) then went back to bed for a couple hours.

Are you already eating small frequent meals?  Maybe snacking on nuts would help, and always adding some protein to your snacks or meals...  I don't know how your appetite is, but they told me to eat whatever I wanted that appealed to me, just so I got enough calories.

Anyway, I hope you find a way to slow down the wt loss, keep us posted.

Thinking back to the beginning of tx, I was soooooo speedy.  I was either re-arranging or refinishing furniture at all hours of the night.

So let me ask this.....if it's really the riba....shouldn't we be more awake during the day since we take the largest doses in the morning??  I take 3 in the morning and then take a 2 hour nap at around 3 in the afternoon.

Have you checked your heart rate?

I fiddled with the timing of my riba because I also felt like a dead weight in the morning and would get frenetically chatty and speedy late at night. It drove my husband crazy and I'd tell him to go sleep in another bedroom but he never did. He'd beg me to shut up.

I never could change this pattern, no matter how I switched the riba and the hours. I tried taking three riba in the morning, two in the very early evening, sometimes as little as five hours apart. No difference.

When I say speedy, I really mean speedy, and my heart would get very speedy, too. My thyroid never went out of whack, though, which I thought should explain the racing heart.

My husband noticed right away that within days of my last riba, I stopped harassing him late at night and just dropped off to sleep like regular old, regular old. My pulse rate, which had been 100 thru tx went down to 75 just like that. I've been sleeping very well, almost three weeks post-tx.

In fact, my one physical problem right now is that I can't stop eating and am putting on weight fast. Physically - knock on wood - things are going pretty well. (The blues are still dogging me big time.)

I've always heard that riba makes you speedy.  I take mine at 5:00 no matter what time I take it in the morning.  I doubt if it has EXACTLY a 12 hr. stretch.

You need to sleep.  You've been seriously ill and now you're on chemo.  Try a little bowl of cereal at night; carbs are supposed to make you sleepy.  No chocolate or soda after lunch. My worst curse is napping in the afternoon.  Feels so good but too wide awake at bedtime.

I don't know Tippy...but I can tell you that in my case, the ice cream is keeping the weight on very well, lol!

Actually as much of it as I eat, I should be as big as a house, but haven't gained (haven't lost either)

The riba does the same to me.  Takes me all day to get going and if not for the Atarax, I wouldn't sleep.

I had same issues when I was txing. I couldnt get up in morning and could sleep at night. I actually only slept an hour or two in the evening. I lost only 14 lbs during tx.
I ate constantly though..I forced it cake, pasta , cheese etc. I lost all muscle tone.....
Doctor gave me something to sleep which actually only allowed me to sleep 3 hours or so. In the a.m. I felt like i was in a drunken stupor in the morning from tx.
All I can say is I wish I knew the answer as well...but try to keep eating even if your not hungry that what I did.
I was lucky though I was never nauseas during tx.....and I love food so....I tried.
