The only sure outcome of any litigation is that the lawyers will get paid first. (Re: original topic).

What I'm saying is that's why the docs and insurance companies aren't pushing for more widespread tx.  Cost and the possibility of discrimination...it's like they are saying because there is no way to insure people change their behavior after they are diagnosed, why bother being diagnosed.

I'm not saying that is what I think, I'm saying that's what I get from reading that paragraph.

I'm glad you had a better day.  Are you a machinist?  My husband is.  He works in hydraulics now.

So what you are saying is a lot of people will not even bother to get tested, afraid they may have it?...ill bet that if they even made it more public...most would not get tested anyway....just maybe this monster will continue to devour souls for a while more yet .stigma is a indirect killer

I'm with you....I'd much rather be on 80% team, but I read this study the other day and it just hit me that our risk of HCC is 1-5%.  That's even less than the percent most quote for hep being sexually transmitted....or for being born with it.

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00055154.htm

"Most studies have reported that cirrhosis develops in 10%-20% of persons with chronic hepatitis C over a period of 20-30 years, and HCC in 1%-5%,"

Ever wondered why testing is not mandatory?  Found this little jewel in the same study...my favorite part is where they talk about the possible "adverse consequences" of testing.  I knew there was a reason!

"Hepatitis C is a disease of major public health importance, and suitable and accurate diagnostic tests as well as behavioral and therapeutic interventions are available. Counseling and testing can prevent disease transmission and progression through reducing high-risk practices (e.g., injecting-drug use and alcohol intake). However, the degree to which persons will change their high-risk practices based on knowing their test results is not known, and possible adverse consequences of testing exist, including disclosure of test results to others that might result in disrupted personal relationships and possible discriminatory action (e.g., loss of employment, insurance, and educational opportunities). "

Read the separation agreement and look for wording that covers the payout; timing, direct debit, and questions.  There should be a point of contact for any problems, examine the paperwork.  As for looking for a job, do not be another cow in the herd.  The most unsuccessful way to get a job is to limit yourself to mass-mailing of resumes and endless applications.  You previoulsy said you have access to a placement office for resume building, networking, reasearch and counselling.  Have you done any of those things?  What about the training you said you were going to get.  Has that started?  Can't just sit around on the internet all day.

Anyone can be a crook, but doesn't mean your lawyer is and he is probably not.  Maybe he was acting that way to reassure you.  I heard it can take up to 3 mos depending on the company.  Was the release forms mailed by your Lawyer?  Certified or registerd?  Maybe your lawyer didn't send the papers in right away.

You are probably good, just taking their sweet, old time.

gee that's depressing....

regarding your severance package, maybe you could just call x-company but don't tell them your name.  Ask them what their policy is regarding the timeline to receive severance pay.

Just some thoughts"

Here we all are doing this TX to get another few years of life...most find out we have the C when we are middle age...so this means we only have bout ,on average  25-30 years left anyay...and only 20% of peolpe with C actually die from it as i understand..so to me this means 80% may be treating for no reason cause they will die from another cause anywho...so..we go tru all this bull to get another 25 yearsmaybe..and some will die before 75 from accidents...well...just my thouhgts...im happy to TX tho...im not gonna gamble im in the 80% crew...its kind of ironic....its like we have to suffer in order to survive
