Congrats to him being und, one must always stay on their full course of treatment to kill off any virons that still may be lurking. Alot of people become und only to relapse once they stop treating so its very important to stay on all the meds until one is finished....... And no don't throw the electric razor out as he will not reinfect himself that way. If that was possible one would never become und to begin with as they would always be reinfecting theirselfs daily.......... Hang in there.
Unfortunately, the PCR tests aren't sensitive enough to indicate that there's no HCV in your boyfriend's blood. The UND results indicate that no virus can be detected at or above the limits of detection of the test. It would be wonderful if there was a test that could determine that we were absolutely clear of the virus and we could stop tx at that point, rather than continue for the entire course of tx. Maybe some day, but until then we follow the protocol determined from many trials and years of research. Be supportive since this can be a rough haul. Good luck to both of you.
Congrats to him. That is funny about the razor. I was such a freak about reinfection in the beginning that I bleached my toothbrush. LOL. Don't do things lke that anymore. No need for him to throw his razor away. And as others have said, it is important to keep up with treatment since quantitative PCR is not infallible; it only detects down to a certain value. So, unfortunately, he may stil have a few virus lurking around.
Really happy to hear your boyfriend is UND
Everyone above is right
