NASH I just found out I have NASH & TB

Folks, I hope I can find some help. I am an American living in Thailand so finding good health care is a difficult for me, due language issues etc.

The problem is, I was infected with TB on Feb of 07.  I have had a sore throat ever since then, and the doctors would like me to start INH treatment....  which that alone makes me nervous.

But before begining the treatment they did a liver function test and found that I have indications of NASH.  I got an ALT score of 76 and an GGT score of 69.

From as far as I can remember I have always been hyper sensitive to medications, low tolerance, etc.

I am the poster boy for NASH:

High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Taken High cholestrol pills
3 month regime of antibiotics
overweight by 25 pounds

The question is, if I need to take anti TB medication, how am I going to survive? I fear that due to my condition my liver will fail.

Any advice

The doctor just said INH would not be a good choice and said I needed to see a liver doctor.... that is it thus far.

Fly over to India. They have killer hospitals(excuse the pun) and they speak english and they are cheap. You can even use your Air India miles to pay for the office visits.

Yes I intend on doing so. (visit a specialist)

The deal is, I was on Zyrtec for around a month prior to the blood work. I was on Zyrtec 20mg a day and now I have learned those with liver issues should take 5mg a day.

Any how, the last dose I had taken was about 8 hrs before the liver test was done.

So I intend to be med free an lose some weight for a month and get another liver function test.  I read that I should not "crash" diet, so I will not, but I can lose 5 pounds in a month with littler effort.

Regardless, I know that I have a lot of drug allergies or reactions, maxide, docycline, and a lot others. Essentially everything I take....  even the last round of zithromax I had did some wierd things to me, and at the time I had no idea what was going on....  now that I know my liver could be the culprit, I do not even want to take Tylenol. I used to be the type to pop meds with little regard.

Thank you for posting

My doctor recommended the South Beach Diet for NASH.  But before you accept that you have NASH, you should see a good GI specialist, preferably a hepatologist to make sure it isn't something else.
