Catching Hepatitis C through protected sex during menustration

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I'll give it a go.  I had anonymous protected sex with someone a few months ago and after I came inside her (with the condom still intact) I noticed that she started bleeding (probably menustration not sure).  Again, the condom was still intact but there was clearly blood in my pubic hair and pelvis area.  As far as I know, I didn't have any cuts or sores in that region.  What are my chances of catching Hepatitis C?  Some people say it's not even an STI and others disagree.  Just trying to sort this out.  Thanks!

Okay, 'anonymous sex' PROTECTED is smart! Leave the guy alone, lol! And maybe not knowing each others name is smart too, LMAO!!  (sorry, had to!!)

A hep test is free at most health clinics, if your really concerned get tested. Can't hurt anyway being single and 'out there'  (HIV test also) and can get vaccinated for A & B while there.

I'm with Liz......no one in my life has gotten Hep C and that's with sex, shared razors (yup, tooth brush in a bind) and sex....well, a lot , we'll say :) Also 3 sons, had during birth (didn't know it) and they all used my razors. etc. until I found out.

The risk is small and good man on 'protected' sex! Too many play it risky.

Good luck, LL

Anonymous sex? Does that mean you lied about your name and she lied about her name!!

...well, for my two cents worth, my hubby & I are married 31+ years. He has HCV, I don't. We have 5 kids. Draw your own conclusions as to how difficult this virus is to catch. HCV really isn't considered an STD. I don't think that when we first started seeing a hepatologist for my hubby that he even asked me if I'd been tested. I'm sure we offered up that info but he didn't seem to care. Seemed MUCH more concerned that I not shave with his razor (too late) or use his toothbrush (too late also).
Nevertheless, you should be careful in any random sexual encounters.

Does she have HepC? This is transmitted by blood to blood contact. You would have had to have an open wound, cut whatever and she would have to have HepC. I believe there are those who don't think menstrual blood carries the virus. I can't imagine why not..so if I were a bettin' man...I'd refrain from sexual intercourse during her cycle.
It is not considered an STD though there is a member here who believes she got it when she was raped. There are many others who have had this virus w/o knowing for many years and their spouses are negative. Just Be careful out there.
It seems that it is more likely for a man to pass it on to a woman than vice versa.

We exchanged names.  We just didn't see each other after that.
