She is the math nerd of math nerds, That is why we love her so much! ANd she is a kind loving person also!
Just noticed you are in a Boceprevir trial, with a lead-in of SOC I presume. It will be interesting to see what the Boceprevir does for you then. How nice that they are telling you your viral loads even though you are in a study.
PS Next time pose a question like this on the medical side of the forum. There is a risk it will go unnoticed otherwise, since the math nerds (including me) tend to hang out there.
The important drop is the log drop.
13'300'000 IU/ml = log 7.12
2'530'000 IU/ml = log 6.40
You have had a 0.72 log drop so far.
A decrease of one log = 90% decrease.
A decrease of two logs = 99% decrease.
A decrease of three logs = 99.9% decrease.
I figure you are a geno 1? Hopefully you will have at least a 2 log drop by week 4. But what is required to be a partial early responder is only to have a 2 log drop by week 12, although we hope to be clear by then. Around 40% of geno 1s clear between week 5 and week 12.
If geno 1s have at least a 2 log drop by week 12 and become UND by week 24, they are considered slow responders. This is the case for about 20% of the geno 1s.
You got a very early viral load test. This is unusual for geno 1s. Keep at it and post your result next vl test. It will be interesting to see what your vl is at week 4.
Best wishes,
Za
