my dog died

This is not the usual type of post...my dog Buddy died last saturday from cancer of the nose. He stayed by my side through the 48 weeks of treatment, either on the bed or on the couch or on me, all 110 pounds of him, he knew whats up. We could not help him, the cancer was to far along for any treatment, they gave him three months.
What a true companion.
I posted his picture, so have a gander at the best mut ever.

Wow, I did not expect this response at all, they really are our best unconditional friends.

Buddy's father was a Cane Corso Mastiff, his mother was a German Shepard, Boarder Collie mix. He was a smart one, we would hunt squirrels and coons together, and they would not out smart him. One summer a squirrel got into one of our wood stoves, when we let it out the chase was on, Bud got it ( he was gentle and wearey of his power ) , he carried it to the front door and took it out side. The critter then turned and bit him on the nose and would not let go. Bud was shaken his mellon and the thing would not let go.
this turned out to be his only scar.

...memories keep them alive eh. thanks everyone.

Sorry about Buddy :c
I checked out his pic, and what a great face he had.

We have two large animal dogs and I spend a lot of time with them. As treatment progresses, the less time I can stand being around people.

Our 12 year old Newfoundlander probably has a few more months - and even though we know this now, it is not going to be any easier when he goes.

My 9 year old Great Pyrenees Mountain dog is one of the loves of my life.  I am a loner by nature and I cannot imagine my life without him.

For the joints would be HA......hylauralonic acid (sp?)  they have used it for years on horses, injected into joints.  Now they have it to take orally for humans & animals.  I use it for my GSD that has severe hip dysplasia.  It does her wonders.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your good friend Buddy.  My Chocolate Lab Cocoa will be 9 years old at the end of December and although he still acts like a puppy, I do notice some limping now and then and when I see there, I think to myself how quickly the time is going by.  Why can't they stick around for a while longer.  Cocoa sits beside me on the couch when I'm not feeling well and he also like to climb in to bed with me and sleep right beside me until my husband comes to bed and then he gets up and goes to sleep on the couch in the living room.

I cherish this dog so I know exactly what you must be going through and my heart goes out to you. I hope that your memories of all the good times you've had with Buddy comfort you in the days ahead.

My thoughts are with you!

Godspeed Buddy!
