personality changes

I have had hep c sence 1981 due a blood transfusion. I didnt discover I had it till 1994 and went into the interfron program. It was still new but I was lucky and went into remission. I 2006 I started feeling extreme fatigue and flu like systems and went back to my Doctor and my hep c was back, so again I did the interferon plus riboviron for one with out any problums and went back remission. Be very carefull off sc ripts and meds you take. The last time I reincountered it was from fungal meds. I now after several years and trying to stop smoking I took trantix got very ill from and my hepc is back again. My husband of 35 yrs found out he was also positive several yrs back and choose to do nothing at that time. Now his liver is so damaged that he is going on the transplant list when he finish,s many test.Never put off your treatment its not that bad. the waiting causes a much worse effect and possible death. Listen to your body and take care of it and even with   hepc the treatment is so much easier then the alternitive. Wish my soul mate luck

unfortunately back when you treated the first time the tests were not very sensitive and most likely you still had virus present and didn't know it.  Either that or you had a viral breakthrough which would have happened within only a few months of stopping the meds.  Did you get tested at one month post treatment, 3months, 6 months, 1 year?  Hepc does not go into remission and come back but you can be REinfected again - being cured of it does not give you any immunity.

I am very sorry about your husband and hope that he gets his liver soon. When he does make sure he treats to get rid of the virus so this liver is a keeper.  New meds hopefully will be out in the next year or so (we pray) that will give you better odds of success.  Make sure next time you get a really knowledgable doctor and then learn every single thing you can yourself. Knowledge is power with this disease - you can change your own odds just by knowing what is correct and what is not.

Hep c doesn't go into remission. Either you get rid of it or you don't. When you did your treatment the last time, did they check your viral load after 6 months of completing treatment?

Fungal meds don't cause hep c. You could have been reinfected by your husband though. Don't use his personal items like toothbrushes and razors.

I'm sorry your husband is having such a bad time. Why didn't he treat when you did?

Hope things go better for you,
Diane
