Help - libido returning, hair still going!

Hi all,

I have some good news to report...I'm 6 weeks post tx and the libido is finally returning. Yay! It was completely gone while on tx. I don't just mean bc I was tired and sick etc. - I mean NOTHING, NADA, NIL! Not a thought or a sensation the entire time. Frankly, I thought that at 46 my life as I knew it was over! LOL. So, anyway, happy to report it is returning... I watched "Pride and Prejudice" last night and I was swooning over Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy. ;-)

On the downside, my hair is still falling out at an alarming rate. It started thinning at 4 months, but it hasn't stopped yet. I have a few hairs coming in (I look like Alfalfa on top!) but much more is falling out. I am also hypothyroid and on lexothyroxine now. Not sure if that's contributing (I thought being hyperthyroid caused the hair loss, but probably any hormone imbalances do) but they are monitoring my thyroid levels.

Anyway, can anyone else share hair loss/return experiences post tx, and how long it took etc.? Did anyone have permanant change?

I guess given the choice of no libido or thin hair, I would take the latter but frankly, I would rather have both! ;-)

Thanks. I guess I had some unrealistic expectations that as soon as I was off the meds, things would rebound in a month or two. Rats.

But now I have something to look forward to (besides SVR that is!). :-) My hair is stick straight so maybe it will be wavy now!! And maybe not as gray. Hey, a gal can dream, right? Whoo hoo!

Fake a libido...are ya kidding me?! On tx I could have had Daniel Craig, Matthew Macfadyen, and Mel Gibson all sprawled nekked on my bed and I would have said "hey, move over guys, you're in my spot!" Now, I might let them stay! ;-)

Robin....my labido's coming back at end of tx :) Lost a bit of hair (lot) but thinned all over so not too noticable, but also wondering how long before it stops coming out (finished tx last week). Do think a whacky thyroid will contribute to the hair loss tho.

Robin- congrats on finishing out your treatment. I felt rejuvenated quickly after the last go-around. Feel free to elaborate further on the libido issue, by the way :o).

Sldb; so you think that’s anal- I knew a gal that installed a screen in her shower drain so she could collect and *weigh* her lost hair… I don’t recall the total grams lost, but it was a bunch :o). No matter what we think, there’s always someone else out there just a little nuttier than we are.

My hair did not start coming back til 9mths post tx, sometimes it just takes a while. new hair is about 4 inches long now.  SO OCD of me to measure my hair regrowth. I too had wavy hair prior to tx. now it is straight.

Hi, yes I'm 7mo. post my hair started coming back in about 3mo.ago. The texture has changed some, also it was wavy before tx now pretty straight but feels really good, smooth shiny & before it was really dry. so hang in there it does come back .
