hmm this topic has been moved? I wonder where it is, or where it was.
WillBB, your medhelp privilages have been suspended, till you can write 1000 X's. I will post topics where they belong ;-0)!
that was a very funny post. thanks so much for the laugh. belle
It will take the baby boomers : ) At least they got that right.
True investigative reporting seems to be a thing of the past.
Now it's more about shock and awe or what some celebrity wore.
I don't know what it will take to actually create hep C awareness.
Wish I had a like button. That was funny and true.
you smell.
all they are concerned about is making money while reporting about....snow storms, hurricanes, floods, natural disasters, gravitationally challenged people walking in the mall eating cinnabuns, you get the idea. they make me wanna reach for my zofran.
Well i just checked it looks like they still don't have my post on the story! Maybe doing any kind of research makes for a bad reporter! so much for my new found career, ha...
Well, awhile back, my husband was in The News, quite a bit, for different forms of Activism that he got started, etc.
This is when I found out, invariably, that The News ALWAYS seemed to get one major point in the story, completely wrong!
It had never even occured to me before, I was such a sheep, I thought surely they "checked and varifyed these facts", before reporting.
But the sad reality is, the Media can be misleading.
I know for a fact, that I never caught Hep C from sex.
If having sex with someone who is infected with hepatitis C is a high risk..and only 4% of the US population has chronic hepatitis C, I guess most of us heppers are celibate??? No wonder we are always so miserable, whining and depressed!
Maybe we need to add maintenance dosing of Viagra post treatment so we can back up to speed? Time to Partyyyy! <l:0
Gee, this disease is way worse than I thought...
;-))
Hector
Maybe someone should sue them for ??? Ruining their relations??
I have found media will say or write anything to sell papers and air time. First hand that is.
I think corporate America is behind much of the hype here lately about HCV. They are using misinformation and scare tactics to encourage people to test and treat with the new meds..........
thanks for posting. i find it very disturbing that the media has it so very wrong. i've been with my husband for 32 years now. i had hep c when i met him (although i was unaware at the time). and he was tested last year for it. he does not have hep c. it's like jules said about the aids epidemic, the media is uninformed. belle
People think what they want to think. If a show like L&O finds that this scenario somehow fits into their plot, or if, maybe Ice T, can deliver the line well enough to have us convinced he's a cool cop, then it's in the script. It doesn't have to be a fact. Nobody in the cast, the production crew or the network cares if it's true. They care about ratings and advertising revenues, that's all. The sad thing is that some people watching TV believe that these scripts are based in fact and will take to believing it. Similarly people believe anything that they read..."well they couldn't print it if it wasn't true". Just another entry on the list.
In all the years I've been here I have only seen ONE retraction and believe me we were letter writing fools! It seems that for some reason most people just believe this misinformation is true and they dont want to think about it any other way.
Sad.
ask for retraction... I mean..... I'm not a writer
Report it to network and as for retraction. People on this forum
write really well. Us it to make a difference.
I was watching Law and Order one night and they eluded to the notion that hep C was transmitted sexually. I find the whole misinformation on hep C that is rampant in our society very irritating. Just another thing to put on the endless list of "Things That Are Wrong With Our Society". We could try and educate people but consider the pupil ....
Thank you will. Very discouraging to see something so blatantly incorrect.
