Telaprevir

Hello doctor and thanks for your time here,

Do you know anything about the 2nd study within the Telaprevir phase 3 trial. This 2nd study will enroll around 400-500 participants starting around Sept. The only info I have is from a press release this past January, it says that it will evaluate with 48 weeks of tx. I received a call from my docs office and the nurse said they will be doing the 2nd study. She said it may be a month before she has the full protocol from Vertex but from what she already has it looks like there will be two arms treating 24 & 48 weeks not just 48 like the original plan?  Also it sounds like everyone will receive the study drug?  Can you please clarify this if you have any information. Thank you

That sounds about right. Just about what I heard too. Good stuff and very easy protocol to navigate. Good luck with it! DTD

No Emilio, this is for naive patients. The non-responder trial is a different one. From what was read to me from the trial nurse it sounded like there would be a 24 & 48 week arm and that everyone would get telaprevir. She did not get the complete protocol yet so this is not 100% sure.

Are we talking about the non-responder trial?  Maybe the excellent numbers from the prove 3 have convinced them to go with another 24 week arm. Regards EMi
