SGOT 150

I went from 15 Million (viral load) to <50 IU/ML HCV RNA in 15 weeks. Which is great. But some of my labs which had been in normal range are now thus:  AST (SGOT) 150, ALT (SGPT) 88 and ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE 132, WBC 3.0, RBC 3.43 Hemoglobin 10.6, HCT 31.3, RDW-CV 18.9 Neutrophils 49.1, ABSOLUTE NEUTROLPHIL COUNT 1.5 and my SEDRATE 42 (the sedrate I understand) The rest I just don't know the reason. Especially the enzymes. Can you make any suggestions?

Sometimes, the first sign of breakthrough or relapse is the elevation in enzymes. Ask for the TMA or heptimax test which goes down to 5 IU. Sometimes the interferon itself causes some elevations in liver enzymes, but usually just the ALT and AST. The alk phos elevation is concerning and needs a GGTP to confirm that. It can be your gallbladder or fatty liver. We have seen many gallbladder attacks if there were gallstones before treatment. Congrats on the viral load drop! DTD

Thank You Doc. I've treated 5 different times and I was so proud that I finally UNd'd. But when I saw the labs I was really concerned but it was beyond my knowledge. I'd heard of it in HepB but not much in HepC. I will get the GGTP done this week.
