- hsv + & donating blood -

so, it's time for me to donate blood again, but i haven't done this since my positive HSV test.
i read on the Red Cross website that they do accept blood donations from individuals that are HSV +.
my question is, can Herpes NOT be passed via blood? if it can be, why will they accept a blood donation from me?
thanks for your time.

No need to mention the herpes either when donating blood or signing up for organ/bone marrow donation. It's not a problem.

Nope, herpes isn't passed in blood, so you can donate.

If they eliminated everyone who had herpes somewhere on their bodies, they would be eliminating about 80% of people.

Just don't go if you are having an outbreak.  You should never donate blood when you aren't feeling well.
