I am desperated
Hello everybody, this is my first post, one week ago I started feeling with a log of itching in the vaginal area, burning when I pee, a yellowish discharche, in like 2 more days I started to see red bumps in my vaginal area that later become blisters with vaginal inflamation, the pain was unbearable, I went to my gynecologist and she said that what I have looks like genital herpes,(she obviously took my blood to test it and confirm diagnosis) I was totally surpriced because I don't have promiscous behavior, I am 28 years old and I have only had 2 sexual partners, one of them is my actual fiance, so she put me on antiviral medication, valtrex, and 8 days later the mayority of blisters have break, I can move better, and the pain have decreased a lot, the only one thing that haven't improve is the sweeling, does the sweeling suposed to stay until all the blisters healed? Also just 30 minutes ago I received a phone call from the doctor's office saying that all the tests done came back negative, this completelly looks like herpes, and it is following the normal course of the desease, but it looks like it is not showing up in the blood test. Has someone go through something like this? I am in a position that I don't know what to believe, I need to be prepare for a second outbreak.
no not other test have done on myself, today I was so desperate because of the horrible itching, that I went to a clinic close to where I live, the doctor saw me and he said that he thinks that i have besides of the herpes outbreak a vaginal infection, he prescribe antibiotics and an antifunfal cream that I should put outside of my vagina, I just hope this works I am so desperate, and it looks like doctor's doesn't care
did they do other testing on you though? The discharge you describe isn't typical for herpes.

Grace thanks a lot for your comments, my gynecologist say I have to get tested again for herpes in a couple of months, the symptoms has improved a lot, I am 80% better, since like 3 days ago, the blisters are gone, I still have some red areas around the vaginal area and a lot of itching and some discharge.have someone went through this ? this is day #13, is this behavior normal, this herpes thing have get me extremelly depressed, my fiance have been extremelly supportive and that have strenghen our relationship, but I can't avoid to feel dirty
Unfortunately the testing you had done was not the best way to go about this :( The blood tests aren't helpful for a newly acquired infection - they should've done a lesion culture and typing of your symptoms. Did they also test you for anything else? Did they do any testing on your vaginal secretions for yeast and bacterial infections?
At this point your fiance needs to go and get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what his results are to get a little bit better answers.
If you get a return of symptoms, go and be seen immediately and insist on a lesion culture and typing.
