Thanks for the information.

Hi, and thanks for asking me.
The first thing you should know is that you're not alone. I heard that about a 70% of the American population has some type of herpes. This virus has the ability to hide in our central nervous system, where it stays dormant, which means there are no symptoms. When the virus reactivates, it can attack any part of the body where those nerves are involved. In my case in 2005 the virus reactivated in the left lobe of my brain
and that is what caused my Meniere's attacks which is what I was being treated for up until April this year. That's why my case is now so complicated. Because attack after attack the virus kept on spreading in my body.
Only when an attack with visible symptoms appear, is when we are tested and diagnosed.
I am a good example to prove this statement. I haven't had any lessions on my genitals or mouth, What I did get was a very small pimple on my buttock and pimples all over my head. (which I had for a long time, but always thought they were just pimples). Usually around my menstrual periods.
I had to diagnosed myself, and to get a Dr. to test me for the virus, I had to put myself on an experimental treatment with Acyclovir. My story is very long.
You say you suspect you have oral herpes. That type of herpes is caused by HSV 1
which attacks the upper part of the body. HSV1 attacks from the waist up and HSV2
attacks from the waist down. People who had chicken pox were exposed to HSV1
which is the one responsible for shingles, but it could also be acquired by transmission of an infected person (when active).
My symptoms included everything you mention above and an additional long list.
It all started with an allergy, loss of taste & smell on left side of my mouth, numbness
of left side of my face, itchy left nosetrill and left eye. (I thought I had sinusitis) After a few weeks taking allergy medicines and busters for my immune system, I started to feel dizzi and a few days later, had a spiining vertigo along with paralization of my whole left side of the body (head to toe). Fortunatelly it went away within hours.
The vertigo attacks, ringing in the ear, feeling of fullness and all symptoms of Meniere's disease were present. At the beggining they were once every few months, then once every few weeks and it kept progressing until it became an everyday thing. Each attack involves serious effects such as confussion and loss of memory.
Those vertigos and dizziness have only stopped now, after I'm on an antivirus medication.
If I was you, I would go now that I have the lessions and ask for an HSV test. If you get on suppressive treatment now, you have a better chance than I had to prevent further diseases. Besides, you will be on a better position not to transmit it to others.

,
I am trying to get diagnosis since March 2007. I believe I may have oral herpes. From your post, you were diagnosis by the ENT? How long did it take for them to diagnosis you? What were all your symptoms?. nose sores, needles and pins throughout body, dry eyes, tingling in side of hear, ear pains?
Look forward to your response!
