Acyclor vs Valtrex
Hi Grace, appreciate the explanation given between the 2 meds however, Acyclor 400 mg x2daily = 800mg a day and Valtrex is 500 mg daily for surpress therapy. As a stated on a earlier question per my research ASHA website they site a study on Acyclor claiming over 90% effective. On the Valtrex website the study shows to be 80% effective. Is this correct and how do you interpet this info. Please help me figure this out. Thank you very much, Liz.........
yeah im scared 2 lol :( because at this point i still have to get a conformtaion test which was another crazy issue in itself becuase in michigan no one does conformaiton testing i have to take a mini vay cay out of state.i was wondering the same thing like if i do have it what medication is better for no symptoms/maybe asymptomatic/shedding and i started reading all this info and tha was basically all i got from it. i hope it helped because im still lost lmfao
You may be correct I really don't know how and why some medications work for some and not others but it's that way with all meds and treatments regardless of what it's given for some people respond very well whilst others don't.

i guess it depends on your immune system as well i wish someone would do an experiment based on symptoms and igg levels interesting
tha is strange but i have never been on medication or i dont even know if i have hsv 2 or not but its going on month number and still no symptoms but from what i was reading acylovair is probally the best since valtrex recenlty within 5 years was approved. but i noticed w people tha have light to mild symptoms use acylovair and it does reduce shedding unlike valtrex. but i have also know people tha have hsv 1 use valtrex and it worked jus fine but for hsv 2 i dont think it works tha well unless you have mild to extreme symptoms but i dunno good question
Sorry to butt in on this one but I thought I'd give my own experience of both, I was on Acyclovir and for some odd reason my Doctor changed me to Valtrex I did not find it affective for me at all and asked to be put back on the Acylovir,perhaps it's an individual thing as to how well each one works I just know the Valtrex doesn't do it for me personally.
