Ok thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
your partner will need to also be tested to see what his status is. odds are that neither of you were ever tested for herpes before this.
the igm herpes test is a greatly flawed test and its use isn't recommended by the CDC. It has a high false positive rate so it being positive is fairly meaningless unfortunately.
Thank you all very much for your insight. I figured it was unlikely to be a false positive. The number is high.
Grace, i do have a regular partner. Is the igm indicative of a recent infection? Bc its unlikely i became infected from him but hes the only person ive been with for the past 10 months or more. Thank you.
your hsv2 igg is above the typical false positive rate. It's not likely to be falsely positive. If you need the peace of mind, by all means repeat it but really no reason to.
do you have a regular partner?
grace
I will let grace here review your tests. She is the one that is trained on reading these tests and can give you the best answer. Be aware of those that are not trained and their advice.
In saying that your IgM testing was worthless. Your IgG is what counts. Give grace a chance to get to this. If you hear nothing in 24 hrs simply reply to your post with the word "bump" and it will put it back to the top.
Thank you franklinandbash. I got a copy of the results which reads as follows:
IgM: hsv type 1 IgM Ab < 0.80
hsv type 2 IgM Ab 3.01
IgG: hsv 1 Ab.(IgG) value 0.19
hsv 2 Ab.(IgG) value 7.31
Thanks.
If you could call and let us know the numerical value with that test we can better assist you
