Is this what an atypical genital, inital HSV 1 outbreak looks like?

Hi guys and gals,

I have a diffuse, bilateral outbreak of sores on my penis, there are 6 in total, all painless except 1 that is slightly sensitive.  Here is why I am confused, typically if herpes sores present themselves they are clustered, blisters that are painful.  I have 6 scattered all over the shaft of my penis, none of which ever blistered.  And they are not painful.  The sores are small, appear slighly red with a dark center.  The first appeared two days ago with 4-5 appearing since then.  No pain, or itching.

More info:  Been in a monogamous sexual relationship for 2 years with the exception of receiving oral sex 4 weeks ago from another girl after me and ex partner broke up.  Then got back together with ex a few weeks later.   Partner is HSV 1 positive both genitally and orally (I know this is statistically rare but she had a genital sore confirmed as HSV1 10 years ago, and subsequent blood work showing only HSV1 positive.  She also gets oral cold sores)  Because of this, a likely place to start would be to assume an initial OB of genital HSV1, but my symptoms dont really match the classical presentation.

Im wondering if any of you have any insight into possible conditions besides genital HSV1 (maybe secondary syphilis? Something bacterial?) or if I should just assume thats it and proceed with treatment despite the non traditional symptoms.  Thanks for your time, love this forum and have spent hours reading everything.

You are very welcome. I would suggest calling a dermatologist. They tend to have the most experience at this. The fact that your Physician won't see you for a few weeks is rediculous. Herpes lesions (again I don't believe yours are) heal in two weeks.
Again try a derm if not a walk in clinis is fine. They will culture the lesions if they suspect hsv. If they do make sure it's type specific. Just to make sure it's hsv1 or hsv2.
Again I do not think this is herpes!!!
Keep me posted on the progress and what the doc says.

This really doesn't sound like an initial or any other hsv outbreak. Genital hsv1 initial outbreaks tend to be severe in nature. Painful lesions with flu like symptom. These include fever, swollen lymph nodes and muscle aches and pains. The lesions progress rather quickly to fluid filled blister type sores that pop open and leak the fluid out. Then they scab and start healing.
I would say get them looked at by your Physician or dermatologist. Again it doesn't sound like a hsv1 genital outbreak to me at all.

Feelingundone- Thank you!  My doctor cant see me for 2 weeks and Im wondering if the syptoms will last long enough, I have thought about going to a walk in clinic, i just never know how qualified the doc i will see there is in matters like these.  I know they are great at fixing broker arms, just not sure they see atypical rashes.  I really appreciate your reply, thank you!
