Antibodies Detection IGg - Herpes

I was just wondering the average time for the IGg test to show up.  I tested at 7.5 weeks HSV-1 positive and HSV-2 Negative.  I know it says it can take up to 6 months but it also sounds like most people feel pretty good by a week 12 test?  Is this a similar situation as with HIV where the extreme outliers (past 12 weeks to show positive) are generally those with compromised immune systems (chemo, other) or is something else driving this?

NO!!!

16 weeks is how long it takes for a conclusive on the Western Blot that everyone on this site trumpets as "the only way to really know".   It's a known fact that the Western Blot isn't capable of detecting antibody as quickly as ELISA IgG.  Do your research... or just wait for anyone to find anything credible that contradicts what I'm saying now: WB should ONLY be used to confirm negative status for people who have had indeterminate results or legitimate symptomatic concerns.  NOT FOR YOU.

You don't have symptoms do you?  Than you don't have to worry about retesting.  Move past this!  Have a beer and consider yourself very fortunate.

Thanks for the response.  I don't think I have any "real" symptoms.  The only thing is I have a handful of red bumps on my butt i think are pimples.  they come and go often, are not clustered but scattered and red.

Wasn't sure if these could be symptoms of HSV 2.  I have HSV 1 and the bumps on my butt look and feel nothing like the cold sores I have gotten in the past.

Just reading around out here and it looks like 16 weeks is Terri's conclusive date - you think I should re-test given I have 12 week results?

Just curious can you get HSV 2 orally if you already have HSV 1 orally?  My exposure was oral exchange give and receive....also I've had hsv 1 for about 10 years not sure if that makes a difference one way or the other.

Yes you are correct, nearly 95% of healthy people with no immune issues would most probably show positive for antibodies after 50 days. If you know your immune system and general health is in good order then it is an extremely low probability you would seroconvert from here.

You are most probably negative but if you want all the maths on your side, retest at 16 weeks as you have HSV1. I strongly believe it will reconfirm negative for HSV2.
