Areas of Infection.

If a male has herpes on his anus but is a straight heterosexual, and that he never have herpes developed on my penis, scrotum, groin or thigh area would that area be still consider contagious? If someone were to have either HSV1 or HSV2 does that make their entire skin contagious?

I just called to get my lab results. I am negative for hsv2. After hearing that I cried my eyes out. I really am sorry to myself for being a fool of doing high risk sexual activity with girls I do not know. After this horrible event that has stretch me for past 3 months plus, I do not think I can ever look at sex the same way. Abstience is going to be my practice now.

I did a blood draw yesterday again. I only test for HSV2 this time. My plan is to test each virus indivdually since I don't want mix up like last time.

Even though I had a non-type specific herpes blood test, I should just have my heart and mind set that I have herpes regardless I wait for the type specific result to come out or not.

Why I say that? It is an IgG test. It just didn't give me that breakdown of the 2 virus. It states I have antibodies for SOMETHING. I hate myself to the extreme. I hate my life and I hate how this has to happen to me.

I understand grace you trying to ease me by saying that "Other things besides herpes can interfere with that particular test and cause false positives." or "You could have hsv1, hsv2, both or neither. the non-type specific tests aren't of much help." but I think scientifically it wouldn't matter if its non-type or not. I think inside you know I have something grace. I understand you aren't here to bash someone or not give them glimpse of hope.

I read that hsv1 or cold sores, some people had permanent dormancy and never had 1 in their life. Is that common grace?

Other things besides herpes can interfere with that particular test and cause false positives.  Plus most adults do have hsv1 orally, even if they can't recall ever having a cold sore. We really should be more surprised if we get to the old age home without hsv1, not surprised if we have it.

Give your doctor a call and ask for a referral to someone to talk to about your anxiety too.  You need to learn better coping skills so that when you have stress like this, you don't shut down and worry and think the worst.

I really wish I could grace. I really wise I could. I have been going thru archives of past expert threads looking and looking and looking.

I am to the point where my body has completely shut down. I have lost touch with reality. My mind is not clear and the wall is collapsing on me with options of having a stable girlfriend, marrying, having kids and living old together is slowly going away from me. I dearly am afraid of losing it.

Neither? How could I have neither if I got combine test of antibodies to be 12.5?

You could have hsv1, hsv2, both or neither. the non-type specific tests aren't of much help.  Don't sit at home worrying yourself half to death about this, repeat your test at the proper time with the proper test.

You need to wait until january to repeat your blood test with a type specific one.

My last sexual encounter was Sept 22. Is this long enough period of time for me to get tested and have a much conclusive result?

I didn't not know and I'm sorry.

A lot of things have crashed down onto me in month of October and now. Please be sympathetic as I feel like my life is completely over. Again I apologize. I really don't know where else to turn to.

From your own personal view grace,

From result of 12.5 combined. How likely is this that most of the antibodies are from herpes 2?

we never need to see the range for test results - all we need to see are your actual results.

You had a non-type specific herpes igg blood test done. You need to repeat it with a type specific test as Dr Hook already told you in your post on his forum.

Something is acting weird about my post.
A negative result would be anything  than 1.0. Equicovcal is 0.9 to 1.0.

I went to go get a copy of that lap test from the health clinic.

Test done by LabCorp located in San Diego, CA

Herpes Simplex Virus I/II, IgG

Result: 12.5H index

Limits: 0.0 - 0.8

Negative: 1.0

Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to either HSV-1 or HSV-2. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive indicates antibodies detected to HSV-1 AND/OR HSV-2.

Is this really a test specific test?

Genital herpes can occur, and be transmitted, from anywhere in the "boxer short" area. So herpes that occurs on the anus is considered genital herpes, and can be transmitted via genital or anal sex, and can shed from that entire area as well. Whether it's HSV1 or HSV2 is irrelevant, although genital HSV1 sheds less and causes fewer OBs than HSV2.

Is this yourself you're talking about? How were you diagnosed?
