Any chance of false positives or is that wishful thinking on my part?
All i can say is that having 2 positives is quite compelling unless you had a combination test.
Yes i would agree with one low positive but 2 does up the anti a bit.
what were you HSV1 levels?
Negative on the first one, and i didn't re-test for 1. Which I know is bad.
Nothing is "bad" until you know for sure you have something.
I agree with Life360. Get re-tested in a few months for confirmation.
If you get another "low positive" seek a Western Blot at 5+ months post exposure. A positive WB is conclusive...
Good luck. Keep us posted.
Is a negative WB similarly conclusive in your view, let's say 8 months from last possible exposure?
Yes it would be considered conclusive but more for a person wit only 1 low positive. In your case, since even the best tests miss 10% newly acquired infecitons, even with a negative WB, test one more to even out the score.
Now when you say last possibility of exposure was 4 months before the test, do you mean absolutely no vaginal sex protected or otherwise in this period?
If this is the case then I find it harder to believe that you'd be climbing toward a positive result from a recent infection and would feel the odds of a false positive are quite strong.
I also suggest this as you do not indicate any genital symptoms at all, which would be a bit unusual given you have no prior HSV1.
Yes. Last exposure was 3/29, and she's very low risk too (two or three partners in the last few years). No symptoms at all. I just don't understand how this is possible.
And thanks for all your help, guys. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond honestly and helpfully to me.
I would be seeking a Westernblot 16 weeks after last exposure for confirmation.
While waiting for 16 weeks from my last exposure to run, I've done a few more IGG tests. Here are my results to date, going back to when I originally tested:
7/14: 1.02
7/16: 1.43
7/18: 1.39
7/24: 1.29
Is it strange that my antibody levels are decreasing over time or is variation within that range to be expected of an early positive? Getting in with an infectious disease doctor next week, but figured I'd ask since y'all have been so helpful.
I just received my girlfriend report and it was mentioned that
HSV 1 -IGG 0.56
HSV 1 -IGM 0.14
HSV 2 -IGG 1.74
HSV 2 -IGM 0.53
what does this mean ??? while the >1.2 is positive
and mine is test report is
HSV 1 -IGG 0.61
HSV 1 -IGM 0.12
HSV 2 -IGG 8.25
HSV 2 -IGM 0.48
So whom infected the other, while my girl friend doesn't suffer from anything while i am suffer most
1) My lumpnodes have swelling and i have pain in the joints and there was pimples on my rectum and this happen first on november on 2013 and now again happen on july 2014 what is the problem
and i was told by the dr. to have to zovirax 800mg twice a day for a month.
You are having tests way to close together to really tell you very much. Not giving your body too much time for antibodies to climb or those 'junk' proteins causing a false positive to clear from your blood.
YI'm sorry but you need to settle back from the WB.
