Auto-inoculation!! Help!!!

I have a really embarrassing situation. So I had a "buddy" I was only having sex with him. However, he had a gf the whole time and I didn't know it. Smh anyway, we had sex one night that included oral sex. That was on a Saturday. On the next Monday I was hanging out with a new friend and we kissed for the first time. On Weds I decided to masturbate. I used a little bit of saliva and about 4 days after I noticed some red bumps in my genital area, I thought they were hair bumps. The very next day they started to hurt and open up. I went to the doctor and just found out I have genital HSV1. I never had any sores in mouth or problems there and currently I still dont have any. In fact my blood work came back negative but the culture test came back positive. Is it possible that I could have given it to myself after the kiss or is the probability higher that it came from the oral sex?

most people who contract hsv1 orally, don't get obvious cold sores to know it. no easy way to know if you only contracted it genitally or not.

make sure partners are tested to know their status for herpes so you can make educated decisions about what precautions to take in general. herpes testing generally is not a part of routine std testing so be sure partners specifically check to see that they are tested for it.

far more likely from the oral sex you received. the timing is right for that too.
