Autoinoculation q

I have heroes on my right buttocks only. Never formally tested but it is what it is. I woke up this am and felt the itching and felt them there. I sat down to pee and my anus was itchy.  So I ran my fingers down there to see if there was anything there. I am usually very careful about washing my hands right away.   There is no blisters on my buttocks, just red bumps as alwAys.   Freaking out now....could I have passed it on??  Thanks for any advice.

even if you do have hsv2, that doesn't mean that everything that goes on below your waist is hsv2 related.  sometimes it takes a bit to figure out what is what.

best of luck and stop back to  let us know how it ends up :)

I will get this examined further...almost 20 years of thinking I had it. (And may but will be getting it looked at) Doctors just never wanted to explore it. Thanks!

this really sounds like something non-herpes going on from your description. be seen monday or even next week by a dermatologist if symptoms are still there.

you won't spread herpes around your body.  typically recurrences are in the same general area or in a few general areas.  moving around your buttocks like this would be unusual.

And can they at some point just sort of fizzle out??

But just in case...how common is infecting other parts like that?

It's a circle of red itchy bumps. They stay closed if I don't mess with them. If I don't take valtrex, it turns into blisters and takes forever to heal. It's one breakout. Lately though, they start to heal and scab and then another area crops up.

I'd start the valtrex 1gm a day every day to try to prevent recurrences. you should only have 2-3 ob's max a year on that dose.

are you having multiple lesions with your recurrences?

what else could it be?  things like dermatological conditions ( eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis ) or allergic reactions.

What other skin conditions could it be....I know that's a loaded question.

I just take the valtrex and lysine at outbreaks.

I'd have to wonder if this isn't all a herpes problem. you should be well controlled on the valtrex. the OLE and lysine are more helpful for other skin issues than they are for herpes.  what dose of valtrex are you taking daily?

I'd get tested to be sure of your status and also get your partner tested too. a lack of obvious lesions doesn't mean not infected so knowing their status would help with anxiety about infecting them too.

Never been tested, but reoccurrences have been happening for almost 20 years. My spouse is negative and we have been together 6 years. I take valtrex, lysine, and olive leaf.   I quit the olive leaf for 2 weeks and they came back. I am in the middle of a particularly bad outbreak since April. Heals then comes back.  I am wondering if I should take the valtrex daily for awhile and I am going to continue olive leaf. I am just so mad at myself. I check the sores on my buttock and the check down there where I have never had an outbreak. I always was my hands before touching anything. If I don't treat with valtrex, they do turn to blisters, but I start taking the valtrex right away and it stay red bumps to scabs. Still freaking a bit but there was a few seconds from touch to touch.

why not get tested to confirm your status?

have you considered treating your herpes? how often do you get recurrences?

if you have a regular partner, have they been tested to know their own status?
