Help on correctly informing my past partner

I just recently found out that the person I lost my virginity to gave me HSV-1 and HSV-2. I informed him on this whole situation and he went to go get tested. He said his doctor’s simply looked at his area and told him he didn’t have it. And that they can’t tell through blood work only by looking. He also said they told him it cannot be passed when you do not have an outbreak. I’ve done all of my research and I know that all of this is false. I’m just not sure if he is a bad liar and didn’t actually go get tested or if his doctor is just not well informed.

He is refusing to get actual blood work drawn to make sure he is positive. What can I do about this situation? I don’t know if he’s avoiding reality so he doesn’t have to deal with it.

If he is the only person  you have had sex with, he is definitely  The source of your HSV-2 infection. It just be one is a little trickier. Most people come in contact with a virus when they are children. There’s really nothing you can do to convince him to get tested. But if he is your only sexual partner that you’ve had, there really is no other way you could have caught the disease. You might want to confirm that your testing was correct. Did you have an outbreak and get it swabbed? Or did you just have blood test? Please make sure that you got and IgG test done, not an IG I’m test as those are highly unreliable. You may also want to make sure that it was not a combined test and instead a specific test that’ll give you values for HSV-1 and HSV-2. It just be testing is not full proof and sometimes can give false positives. Just be sure to look into that for your own peace of mind. As for your boyfriend, he sounds like an idiot. Sorry but I’m just being honest. I would move on.

I went in for a regular check-up and ended up getting checked for STD’s since I was there. I didn’t tell them I had been exposed to the virus because I had no idea but I guess it’s regular for them to test for it there. They did blood work on me that’s how I know it is false that they can just simply look at someone without any outbreaks and tell them they do not have it. I have never had any outbreaks either.
My results for HSV-1 were 4.31 and HSV-2 were .63 which does not even make sense with the scale that they have with my results.

It says  1.10 positive
***sorry it cut off
1.10 = positive
less than .90 negative
.91-1.09 equivocal
more than 1.10 positive
Your HSV-2 score is negative… I assume this was an IgG test? I don’t know why they would’ve told you you were positive because that is definitely a negative value. There will be some Variations in the index number based on the test that was one. It’s normal for that number to never be consistent but if it’s in the negative range, it’s negative. No the testing with IgG isn’t 100%. But it’s definitely very good for HSV two. I would say you’re a just be too negative. You are HSV one positive. That’s a pretty firm score. There’s no way to know how long you’ve had it for as in X values don’t tell you that.
