Blood Tests?

Ok so I haven't been on here in awhile but I was  diagnosed from a culture pos hsv1 neg hsv2 about 4 months ago.. I've had constant obs and am on Valtrex daily now but anyways just for conformation I got a blood test from my obgyn the IGM was HSV1-detected HSV2-detected and the IGG was HSV1- 8.00 and HSV2 Neg.. Anyways my obgyn told me I was pos for both because my igm detected both (obviously they know nothing about testing) so I went to an STD clinic that specifically tests for HSV2 through IGG and it came back Neg.. My question is why did my IGM come back as detected for both when it's been 4 months.. And is HSV1 IGG 8.00 mean a recent or old infection..

You might've acquired it earlier than you think or your immune system is different from everyone else's. I'm wondering if the Valtrex could've had an effect on it, but wouldn't that make the count lower?

Also, the numerical number only matters in as much it tells you you have it, the time frame narrative is going to be tricky because Herpes is so variegated, you read of some people never realizing they have it until a blood test and then others who only have sex once and come down with a chronic case of it.

If there is any wrong info here let me know so I can edit it.

Most likely your hsv1 is old from childhood.

Hi, that the reason we dont use igm as it show false positives to often. We only use igg and according to your tests your negetive for hsv2.
