CONFUSED,DO I HAVE IT OR NOT? freakin out

Tested with elisa for hsv 1 and 2 igg and igm. Hsv 1 igg and igm came back negative. hsv 2 igm came back negative and hsv 2 igg came back inconclusive with a 1. what does this mean? I have been in a monogamous relationship for 2 years, have been tested before for hsv 1 and 2 igg and igm many times in the past and they all came negative.

Grace, thank you so much for your help and prompt response! so my tests cae back today at 9.5 weeks, they are negative for hsv2 igg at .18 and igm at .44 and also negative for hsv1. i guess the other test was a false positive. should i be ok with these results, or should i go ahead and test again in 3 weeks? thank you so much!

a pap test wouldn't reflect an external hpv infection. a normal pap in july just means that you didn't have anything causing cervical cell changes at that time. a regular pap doesn't check for hpv routinely either to know if you have a cervical hpv infection or not too.  have you had your gardasil shots?

your partner tested negative for herpes so no reason to think you have herpes.  a week's worth of a subtheraputic dose of acyclovir wouldn't affect test results either.

as I said, I wouldn't go back to that provider again. we don't give acyclovir to ward off other viruses.

also when i took the zovirax for a week it did nothing for my symptoms, he said that he gave it to me to prevent any other viruses from comming in from the procedure he did to me (the freezing)

Hi Grace thank you so much for your response. The doctors didn´t say that it was a newly acquired HPV , they said I probably have it from a past exposure, although my pap smear came back normal in july. im not sure why he put me in a zovirax for a week, he said it was to calm me down. anyway, do you think the zovirax i took for a week is making me seroconvert slower? im freaking out because the igm for herpes 2 came back positive at 9 weeks, do you think it is a false positive? or do you think im just starting to show antibodies? igg came back at .03. i was recently given a cream with some anifungal and cortizone and it is making my symptoms better. thank you very much again for all you help. best.

not sure why the provider gave you once daily acyclovir when they didn't think you had herpes going on. once daily acyclovir doesn't do anything anyways and it's not something we use for hpv.  I'm not sure that is a provider I'd see again.

probably over reacting to think you have a std from that night.  many things can cause rashes and a newly acquired hpv infection wouldn't have shown up in a week like that either.   if you still have the rash, return to be seen monthly as needed to try to figure out what is going on with your gyn.

Also I tested negative after 2 weeks of possible exposure for Trichomonas vaginalis, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasmahominis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae y Ureaplasma urealyticum with a pcr mutliplex test. and negative for syphilis after 6 weeks of exposure..

Hi, gladly my incident last year turned out not to be herpes. i retested 3 times and igg for hsv 2 came back negative after 6 months of exposure. Now i have a different problem, I got drunk 10 weeks ago and have no recollection of that night, so I am affraid I might have done something stupid, even though I woke up in my own bed, by myself, fully dressed. Anyway, a week later I started getting weird symtoms, I saw some tiny tiny pimple like things on the entrance of my vagina, I went to to different doctors they both said it wasn´t herpes, one said it was hpv and froze one of them and put me on 10 days of zovirax once a day,another doctor said they were glands and that is was just inflammed. They haven´t gone away, and the annoying symptoms come and go.I am currently on yeast treatment and it is making them better. Anyway I got tested after 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks after my possible exposure and igg and igm came back negative (although igm for hsv 2 was at .07 higher than normal). Last week at 9 weeks I tested neg at .03 igg hsv1, .03 igg hsv2, .05 igm hsv1, and positive 1.04 igm for hsv2. I am freaking out, do i have it and it is taking so long to seroconvert because of the zovirax i was in?  I ve had mono, cvs, and chicken pox when i was little. Can these affect the test.. I retested again today and currently waiting on the results. On advance, thank you so much for your help

get your partner tested. if your partner is negative, no reason for more testing for you since it wouldn't indicate a recent infection for you.

your partner only needs igg testing for herpes. the herpes igm test is a flawed test and current cdc recommendations are that it no longer be drawn on adults to diagnose herpes.

no he hasnt been tested that i know of, but ive been tested after a year into our relationship and came it came back negative. yes mi hsv igg result was a 1.0 which puts my status as inconclusive. what should i do?
