Can Genital Lesion be visual diagnosed as Herpes?

I recently noticed a lump on the left side of my vulva, and I assumed it was a sore from when I was shaving and thought little of it.
I was emitted to the ER a couple days ago for my PCOS. The ER doctor did I visual exam and notice the lump. Later the nurse came in and told me I have herpes. The doctor didn't come in after the exam to tell me anything about my diagnosis. From what my hospital paper, discharge paper, says it's Condylomata acuminata but it did not state the test he used. So, my main worry is whether this 'visual diagnose' is all that's needed. Is there something else that could have caused this, since I have only had unprotected sex twice due to rape ( which happened over a half a year ago)?

thanks

It's the only place I could have gone to because I'm actually on vacation. I'm getting the anxiety about having herpes so I wanted to know if it's really serious a ER doc said something like this to me.
^_^ thanks so much

The ER is a great place to go for broken bones, heart attacks and strokes but when it comes to your genitals, depending on the ER you went to and the provider you saw, you might've had a broken bone doctor doing his night in the ER and looking at your crotch pretty clueless to be honest.  You'll get much better answers from your gyn :)

Thanks. I am following up with my gyn since it's that time of year for my paps. I'm still wondering if it is because the doctor said it did not see pus that he assumed it's genital warts/ herpes.

The ER is never a good place to go for your crotch :(  I recommend following up on this with your regular doctor or your gyn.  Condylomata acuminata is genital warts.   A visual exam of genital herpes is a good place to start but you need follow up testing done.  If this lump has been there for awhile now though and isn't changing, it's probably not due to herpes anyways.  Go and be seen and get a better exam and some testing done.
