Can HSV1 and HSV2 outbreaks be on the same locations ?

Hi everyone,
I've had Hsv1 for years ans my yearly test results confirmed it.
The HSV1 outbreaks have always been on my upper lips corners. It happened once or twice above the upper lip and under the lower lip. I also think I had some outbreaks in my nose, but never confirmed.

I did not have any outbreak for more than a year. But couple of weeks ago I had one between my lower lip and my chin. I called my doctor because I needed a prescription for some acyclovir cream. He asked me to come in since it was my first outbreak with him as my Gyn. I came in and because I never swab tested any lesion, he decided to take a swab for the test herpes culture and typing.
The result performed by Labcorp came as: 'Positive for Herpes simplex virus type-2. Typing confirmed by monoclonal antibody microscopic immunofluorscence'

3 weeks before this swab test I had a blood work done because I was starting a new intimate relationship. The results were as follow: HSV1 IgG, Type Spec  53.00H(Positive) and HSV2 IgG, Type Spec  <0.91(Negative).

I had oral sex with my new partner without protection and intercourse with protection because he did not get tested yet. Btw, I wish I knew more about Hsv2 before I did that. But now I am not able to convince him to get tested, even if I am willing to pay, he does not have insurance.

My questions:
1. How likely is it that I have HSV1 and HSV2 around my mouth ?
2. Should I expect some genital outbreaks going forward ?
3. Should I consider this result as definitive. I read on other threads that the swab test is very accurate.
4. If the answer is no to the above, what do you suggest I do next ?
5. Is it possible that I did not get HSV2 from him ?

Thank you for your answers

Sorry, one last question.
What about me spreading the hsv1 genitally during an oral outbreak or during unprotected intercourse with a partner that has hsv1 genitally?
Reminder: I've had oral hsv1 for many years.

Thank you

It does offer protection against ever getting it genitaly.
Don't worry about spreading it yourself to the genitals. Really rare and is not sometbing to be overly concerned over. Nornal hygiene is all you need.

Thank you feelingundone for your help.
I just had the worst week of my life trying to figure out what was happening to me next, now that I am hsv2 infected.
You made me feel like myself again, a more aware version of myself.

Thank you for the great work you do, for your time and for your patience.

Sorry it posted before i finished. Lol
Hsv2 is far for common a genital infection. Hsv1 and hsv2 are just strains of the virus and location doesn't dictate hsv1 or hsv2. In other words you can have hsv1 in either location just like you can have hsv2 in either location.
Your hsv2 is an oral infection. Meaning it will stay there and won't shed from any otber location.
You should never worry about spreading hsv2 from kissing or anything else. If you have an outbreak avoid contanct until it heals. That's it.

Thank you so much.
I will get the Igg test again in 4/5 months.

Does the Oral hsv2 'protect' in any way from getting it vaginally? Can it spread out if I am not careful during an oral outbreak or if I have intercourse with an hsv2 infected person?

I was saying you really have two options on your neg igg bloodtest and a positive swab test. Option one, you acquired the infection recrntly and your body hasn't had time to build the antibodies the test looks for. That's why the recommended time for a conclusive igg test is 12 weeks from exposure.
Or you don't make the antibodies.
While you can't really prove it the best bet is you recently acquired it.

Hsv2 is far more common

Hsv2 is rarely an oral infection but it is possible. The good thing about hsv2 oral infections is it is likely to have few if any futire outbreaks and sheds so very little. The odds of you passing it along is slim to none.

2.no, i wouldn't expect them. There is a low possibility that you contracted it in both locations however it's not very common. So i wouldn't over scrutinise that area.

3.swab testing is extremely accurate. Hsv2 will not be the dominant infection oraly. That will be hsv1 and like i said, you may mever get another hsv2 outbreak and passing it to another is extremely unlikely. In other words. If we were dating and becoming active. I wouldn't be concerned about your hsv2 oral infection one bit. It is far more likely you would pass hsv1 to me (if i didn't have hsv1) i hope that sheds some light on how little effect hsv2 will have as an oral infection.

4. It's definitive.

5. Sure, it's absolutely possible but the negg igg either means you acquired it recently or you are one of the few people who don't make the antibodies. Now i find that harder to believe because clearly you produce them for hsv1 or thst test would be negative.

6.i wouldn't think so. You can wait a few months and have another igg test to see if it becomes positive.
I hope this helps in some small way.

Thank you very much for your answer feelingundone. It helps a bunch!!
I am very relieved by your answer to point 3. This event comes as a blessing and will definetely change how I handle any future intimate relationship.

Can you clarify your point 5. answer please ? My last intimate relationship was a year old before my 'current' partner. I do not want to accuse him of anything. Even if he is not helping by not getting tested.

Other clarification on point 2. My understanding was that hsv2 was a genital herpes. Are you saying that because my outbreak is localized around the mouth I am not likely to shed the virus genitally? Of course I will always useprotection going forward.

Should I be worried to pass it on by french-kissing?

Thank you again
