Can I have HSV 1 and 2 below the waist???

Hi,

I have the really ugly cold soar that develops on the back of my thigh. I never had it tested (swabbed) for which type....geeez I sure wish I did!!!! By the looks of it and I would think it was HSV 2. It get's to be as big as a toonie and likely has 20 or more little blisters....did I mention it is really ugly....and it has appeared probably once every 4 years or so. I bet I had it 5 or 6 times in my life. Anyway it seems now I just contracted genital HSV 1. Soooo that would mean I have both stands existing below the waist....right? The genital herpes outbreak was barely even noticeable. It was a bump that appeared after shaving and then after a couple of days changed into a lesion. I didn't even notice blistering which is why I think the herpes on my leg must be HSV 2 because of the dramatic difference between the two. I am one of those rare cases or is it normal to have both stands existing in one area....ultimately they are both living in my spine right? I thought if you had one of the viruses you were very unlikely to get the other???
