Can Mono cause Oral Herpes?

I'm a 19 year old male, diagnosed with Mono back around the beginning of July.  Since the time I was infected with Mono, I have experienced (for the first times) canker sores and cold sores on my upper lip.

I was curious as to whether or not you can develop the oral herpes from a mono infection.

Nothing in my lifestyle has changed since before the infection.  Consistent partner, regular health habits...

me too! i've been looking for stuff on the internet about this, and this is all i could find. I have had one cold sore outside my mouth before, and never had and inside, but recently my throat has been REALLY sore, and according to my doctor its most likely mono. (my test results haven't come in yet)..... I had a REALLY bad canker sore the other week, and just as it was almost healed, it began to return around the same time as my sore throat developed, and now i have 2-3 somewhat painful bumps right on the inside of my lip that seem to be cold sores. At first there was one, and i was curious as to what it was, so i touched it, and a piece of skin fell off exposing this sore-like area. Afraid it was a cold sore, I tried to avoid getting any of the saliva around there to other places, but now on the upper lip, in the same spot, and on the side of my lip, there is another "cold sore" thing. I don't know if its actually a cold sore, but it looks like one. I'm very curious to know if mononucleosis caused a HSV1 outbreak

Thats very interesting,  as my boyfriend was diagnosed around that time for mono as well, I never got tested and I just recently have developed cold-sore fever blister type things on my lip as well. I've never had any previous coldsores ect except for one time I was very very sick I remember having them. Does your partner have them? Mine has had 1 on each side of his mouth for quite some time, but we thought they were from his daily exposure to the sun and elements.(cuz they go away when he stays out of the sun for a few days..)

mono is a completely different virus. You could've also contracted hsv1 around the same time or the stress on your body from fighting off the mono could've triggered a previous hsv1 infection to reactivate obviously.
