What could affect my test results
I had a negative hsv II blood test at 12 weeks. I am take a testosterone (steroid) blend of Acetate, Propionate, Pherylpropionate, cypionate and decanoate. About 1.5-2 cc/ml every 7-10 days for about 7 weeks. Could this have effected my results and given me a false negative?

No, this would not impact your test results. The only thing I can think of that would impact your test results might be daily suppressive therapy with a herpes medicine.

If you are negative for HSV 2 at 16 weeks, you are, in my opinion, under absolutely no obligation to state that you've had sex with someone who is HSV 2 positive. Since you are both female, and there was no penetrative intercourse, the risk is even lower. Let the 16 week test be the end of it, really. I know you are trying to be responsible, and you have been.

I suppose I will get another blood test at 16 weeks then to be 98% certain. I am having difficulty finding the moral line in the sand here... If I am negative at 16 weeks, do I owe it to future partners to tell them I was sexually active with an HSV2 positive female and they may stand up to a 2% risk with me? Or is that unreasonable? I hope I am not wearing out my welcome on the forum. I am just an empathetic person and would hate to infect someone and hurt them emotionally...

Well, your risk is low and though the steroid mix might make you more likely to have outbreaks if you had herpes, I don't think it would impact antibody development in any significant way. The test is about 98% sensitive (that is, it picks up 98 infected people out of 100) by about 4 months in an STD clinic and pregnant population. So I don't think we can say there is 100% certainty at any time, but that's practically zero, right? No part of this testing is perfect, we simply have to assess risk by the practice you engaged in and combine that with the accuracy of the testing.

So is a negative result at 12 weeks reliable? Or to be truly confident should I wait to 16 weeks? My exposure was limited to multiple occasions of giving oral sex to a HSV 2 positive female and mutual hand to genital contact. There was no sex. With some somewhat abrasive mutual masturbation. Also, not to ask too many questions, but what is the percentage of folks who do not have an accurate test result until 6 months? I would hate to have a false negative and put someone else at risk. It is my hope that I can at some point have a test result that is reliable enough to be able to confidently inform future partners there is a 0 or practically 0 risk of HSV2.
