Confirmatory IFA Methodology

Hi, I had a few pimple/blister like things at the base of my penis. I was concerned and decided to have a hsv 1 & 2 test done. Results as follow......

hsv 1 IGG >5.0 H
hsv 2 IGG >3.43 H

hsv IGM Ab Screen Detected A Not Detected
hsv IGM Ab Titer <1.10

the specimen tested "detected" for hsv igm by eia methodology but tested Negtive by the confirmatory IFA methodology.

Im losing my mind over this, any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

don't waste your time or money on herbals and mms. they don't do anything for herpes and mms just gives you very expensive urine!

if you do actually have genital herpes, you never, ever, ever have to treat it if you don't want to.  treating herpes just makes it heal faster.

confirm your status and go from there. also if you have a regular partner, they too will need tested for herpes to see what their status is.

Thanks for your response. I saw Dr today and no culture was taken. I showed him the test results and he also suggested I retest. He said it also looked like i had a throat infection or something and prescribed  antibiotics as well as valtrex. I really dont want to start the valtrex quite yet.... If I dont "shed" anytime soon, is it bad to not follow his recommendation? Id prefer not to be on meds.... ive been taking new herbal supplements and am considering MMS.... any thoughts on that?

igm herpes testing is very flawed and we don't recommend it being done at all. Unless a new test has come out, IFA confirmatory testing isn't of much more use either.

did they by chance do a lesion culture on your active symptoms too?

your hsv2 igg is a low positive and will need confirmed with further testing. if you are in the US, we recommend a herpes WB blood test 4 months after the  last time you had sex prior to symptoms.
