Constant outbreaks

I was diagnosed with hsv 2 genitally in jan 09. I started taking valtrex but i seem to have constant outbreaks..one day of relief then a weird feeling down there. Sometimes i feel bumps or cuts. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid. My doctor said its very unusual to have outbreaks all the time on medication. She has prescribed Famvir for me now. Can you tell me if this is normal?

no famvir isn't stronger than valtrex.  they both work about the same, you just have to take famvir more often to get the same results as you do with valtrex.

Your spouse having herpes isn't going to trigger ob's in you.  You will still get ob's even while on suppressive therapy, you just get less of them.

I am also on Valtrex and I continue to get outbreaks but they last for a few days and then go away for weeks, sometimes months before I get another. My spouse who also has herpes does not take an antiviral so that is why I believe I still get my outbreaks.  Are you still engaging in intercourse while having outbreaks, maybe that is whey they aren't getting better. Also, I'm not sure what famvir is, but maybe it is stronger than Valtrex and will help you. You might just not respond to the one and that is why they are trying another.
