Constant pain in penis. Could it be herpes?

I had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago. About 4 days after, I started feeling a slight tingly in my penis and urinating more frequently. I went to the doctor who did urine tests and gonorrhea and chlamydia culture. All came back negative but they prescribed me Doxycycline anyway. About 4 days into the treatment, my symptoms began going away and by day 8 of the treatment, I felt like I was healed. However, the day after completing the Doxycycline, I began feeling pain in my penis again. I nor the doctor have not seen any lesions or sores but I'm still afraid I have herpes or something based on forums I've read. The pain seems to be the most noticeable if I squeeze my penis, or change it's position or when it's rubbing against my pants. Also, my testicles have been slightly tender and throb slightly from time to time. I haven't really had any other symptoms and the girl I was with tells me she tested negative recently but I can't bring myself to trust her 100%. The doctor now prescribed me ofloxacin but I'm hesitant to take it since I haven't tested positive for any bacteria in multiple tests. Do you think it could possibly be herpes? And would it be worth it to take the other antibiotic? Is it possible that some type of bacteria wouldn't show up in the urine/swab cultures? Thank you so much for your help in advance. I'm very nervous.

If your suggesting that you have a herpes sore inside your urethra with on and off irritation the answer would be no it is not. Herpes sores in the penis can be terribly painful.

Thanks again, it has been 3 more weeks. After talking to another doctor they told me not to take more antibiotics. I am currently waiting for an appointment with a urologist. The same symptoms have continued. Sometimes I'll have a day with no noticeable pain, and the next day the inside of my penis hole is red and my urethra hurts when bending or touching my penis. Still no discharge, but definitely some dribbling after urination. My testicles also hurt on and off.

Is it at all possible for herpes to cause on/off symptoms like this with varying degrees of irritation like this? Have you ever encountered someone on this site with similar symptoms that ended up testing positive for herpes? If so, please describe. Thank you so much.

Follow the doctors advise. If you constantly squeezing your penis, if you did have a uti, you not letting it heal and if you did have a uti, urine contains toxins and you would have an irritation feeling till its healed totally.

Thank you for your reply. But do these symptoms sound like they could be part of herpes? It bothers me that my doctor is prescribing me antibiotics but no infection is showing up in any tests.

The only way to determine if this is herpes is to wait 3 months to see if antibodies have developed. If you have a UTI it sometimes takes a few trips to the doctor to clear it up.
