Hello, Grace. I've had contradictory test results for HSV 2 and I was hoping you could shed some light on it. I went to the doctor in February for a routine check up and asked for a STD screening as I do every year. I tested negative for HSV 1 and positive for HSV 2. I tested negative a year prior, but I've had three partners since then. One person tested negative, one chose not to get tested, and the third was not given a type-specific test and tested positive. This person does not know if this is due to type 1 or type 2. I have no symptoms, and neither does anyone else.
Feb 2014 - negative by LabCorp ELISA
January 5, 2015 - last date of possible exposure
Feb 2, 2015 - positive 1.82 by CPL ELISA
Feb 13, 2015 - negative by LabCorp Immunoblot
April 10, 2015 - positive 1.55 by CPL ELISA
May 5, 2015 - positive 1.51 LabCorp ELISA and negative by LabCorp Immunoblot
I've been to several different doctors and none of them seem knowledgeable, or are able to say which test result is likely to be accurate. Any insight you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
It may be worth obtaining a Westernblot for the final word.
