Could it be herpes? Internet and I think yes, Doc thinks not yet

Hi,

About 10 days ago I had sex outside a committed relationship for the first time.  It was drunken and sloppy so although we used a condom, at some point it fell off (no ejaculation or pre-*** to my knowledge) but there was definately some mouth/hand/genital and external genital to genital contact.  About 2 days ago I started experiencing a burning/tingling/numbness in my vaginal vestibule and on closer inspection it seemed to be coated in a whiteish discharge, with a red shiny swelling around the entrance to my urethra.  I'm usually quite moist down there but it seemed to me that my vaginal secretions were slightly higher than normal and ever so slightly chunkier (however, no foul smell or colour).

I immediately went to the walk in clinic and was swabbed for chlamidya, gonohrrea,(please excuse the spelling) and a yeast infection and the doctor told me it was unlikely herpes would present itself this early (contrary to everything I've read on the internet).  As a precaution I was given an anti-biotic cocktail and an anti-fungal tablet roughly 24 hours ago.  The tingling has slowly faded only to be replaced by more apparent general pain (more noticeable on the right side right by the vaginal opening, almost total vaginal dryness, and a bit of swelling in the nodes under the skin immediately to the left and right of my vaginal opening (again right side more pronounced).  Having had yeast infections and a history of UTI's I think I have an experience in what bacterial/yeast infections feel like.  This definately feels more skin than internal. What are the chances this is a precursor to an initial Genital Herpes outbreak?  I don't have a family doctor (it can be hard in Canada), am expecting to get my period in a week and not sure how I should proceed on getting relief and a diagnosis.  I am checking every few hours for a sign of blisters or lesions and so far nothing of note except for what seems some sub-cutenous swelling as previous mentioned (and only in those nodes).

P.S. partner claims to have never had an STD but not sure if they get mouth cold sores.

Please advise, I'm so, so, so worried and upset and in pain.

Thanks.

You mention that the act itself was drunken and sloppy, therefore I would be inclined to say it is more trauma to sensitive areas than anything else particularly when you mention numbness and pain, trauma to the genitals can cause pain and redness to radiate around the whole area, keep an eye on things but try not to constantly touch and press as you will only irritate it further, let it settle down, and if things don't resolve in a few days to a week then go back to your Doctor.

Good Luck

The 20 days is VERY atypical. Generally the first symptoms would occur a few days after being infected. There are extreme cases where it would show up in the 20 day period but thats rare. Let us know what they find out. I am betting against herpes..

I appreciate your input, I am not in a place to correct doctors, but I've read everywhere that herpes typically tends to have an initial outbreak anywhere from 2 to 20 days after exposure.

I've never had a problem like this sprout up out of nowhere, so I am a bit concerned, particularly since the numbness was so localized to the vestibule and to the right side.  Anyhow, do appreciate the input greatly and I hope you're right.

Your Doctor is stupid. Herpes would USUALLY appear SOONER, not later than 7 days. Usually around 4 days as an average. What you have there doesn't seem like herpes at all. It is some sort of Vaginitis problem, not herpes.
