I don't know if I have been misdiagnosed, what do you think?

Just over a month ago, I had sex with a man I work with. This is the first time I've had sex. About a week later, i had an open sore on my upper inner thigh. It was sore and weepy, but I tried to ignore it. After another week, I had a few other sores appear around my genital area. I went to a GUM clinic to get tested for all STDs, and, to my surprise, Herpes came back as negative. It has now been about 4 weeks since the symptoms started showing, and the sores have crusted over, but the whole area of my genitals is now covered in flakey scabs, and the skin is just pink underneath. I have also had two sores appear on my knee and my elbow, and have healed in much the same way. I've been back to the clinic to get tested again, and I will get the results on monday. If the herpes test comes back as negative again, then what else could this be? I thought it could possibly be genital psoriasis? Please help me.

Ahh okay well thank you! Unfortunately, I'm not in contact with this guy any more. He lied about a lot of things and refused to get tested too. But I guess I'll wait and see, I get the results back from the second swabs next week, so I'll have to wait and see what these results will be. Hopefully I'll be clear of Herpes!

Well, if you had a negative swab, odds this is not herpes going on. Just make sure the swab was specific for herpes, not for other things (yeast, bacterial vaginosis).

As I said above, you can pursue another blood test 3-4 months after symptoms. Having a blood test right now, a month after, is not very productive. Or you can ask your partner to get tested - this way you'll get a faster answer to whether or not this is herpes.

Yeah I was a virgin before I met this guy. It was a silly once off thing. We did use condoms, though I know they don't provide full protection against STDs. I had the sores swabbed, a blood test and swabs inside the vagina. They said they were doing a full test. I got the swab results 2 weeks after I first visited the GUM clinic, which was when it said Herpes was negative. But because of the symptoms I have, I wondered if the test was incorrect? So that's why I went back in for more swabs and blood tests. The consultant said it looked like Herpes but he couldnt be sure. He gave me medication but that hasn't worked either. I did use to suffer with eczema when I was little, and after doing research I have found out it is possible to trigger genital eczema after intercourse. But it started out as a small open wound. There have been no blisters or anything :s

Yeah the only way you will really know is if you got one of those sores swabbed or wait four months to do a blood test.

So you were a virgin till this encounter? Or is it the first time you had sex with this particular partner?

You'll need to get a copy of the results from the tests performed in the GUM clinic and post them here, so we can better understand what's going on. (such as HSV2 IgG or IgM, the number associated with the result, etc.) Did they swab your lesions or you just had a blood test?

Type specific blood test for herpes take up to 4 months to become positive. That said, if you recently caught it, the test might be showing a false-negative.
