I actually was wondering the same thing, because on some of the boards I've read that since April 2013 the NY Dept of Health has stopped allowing blood samples from NY to be sent to the University of Washington--for any test, including the Western Blot test for HSV, because they don't have the right approvals/paperwork in (or something strange like that).
You could always consider getting your blood taken and sent out to the University from a neighboring state, like NJ--but that could become complicated and you'd still need a doctor to agree to help you.
Or I know that Westover Heights Clinic in Portland, OR (where Terri Warren works)--takes phone patients--meaning they can order the test for you. I'm not sure how this would work with NY banning blood being sent out of state, but something could probably be worked out if you are a patient, at the very least the clinic could advise you in what to do. It's probably worth a phone call to ask!
I'm not sure if this is helpful--but good luck in whatever you decide to do.
how to obtain a herpes Wb in the US is listed in our read before posting post on the forum.
Sorry Grace, a few more questions;
So a faint filled circle is considered negative? The person who tested me, said as there was a reaction, it is deemed to be a positive test and I should therefore assume I am positive. Is there any written documentation released by the company stating that a faint circle is negative? What would cause a reaction to take place to make the circle?
Also, do you have any information of where I can seek out a WB test after the 4 month waiting people?
What do you mean by the following?
if you still have a low positive hsv2 igg before the 4 month mark, still not able to confirm it. make sense?
Sorry for all of the questions! I'm a little stressed by it all!
you have to wait at least 4 months post encounter for the WB to be accurate. you can seek that out instead of the biokit but you have to wait the full time.

Would it be worth doing a WB if I could get access to it? Or is it still too soon?
Also, if I were to retest on the Herpselect and the igg number went up, would it assume that I definitely have been exposed?
Thanks again!
at this point, wait until at least 4 months post encounter and repeat the biokit and go from there. easier to get the biokit than the WB and you tested too early originally.
Hi Grace
It would have been at least a month after my first possible exposure. How long would it take for antibodies to build up to 1.3igg?
Appreciate you advice.
Thank you
usually when it's a faint circle on the biokit, it's a negative.
how long prior to testing had you last had sex?
