Does Gential Herpes cause vaginal burning for more than a month?

I have had gential herpes for years.  6 weeks ago I started having vaginal burning and a sore pelvic area.  I was treated for an UTI and BV none of the treatments worked. Then my doctor said it's the herpes and to up my doesage of valtrex. I have a hard time believing that Herpes would cause burning in the vagina for this long.  She didn't see any lesions inside the vagina.  It does not burn when I pee but just burns all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have now had burning and soreness of the vulva and vaginal area for over six months, and I was tested for everything you could imagine as well as herpes.  After every test came back negative,  I was finally diagnosed with Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis.  Please look both of these conditions up, as just because you have previously had a diagnosis of herpes, it does not mean that your symptoms are due to it.  I find it hard to believe that it would be a reaction caused by HSV and lasted so long.  Not alot of Gyne docs are aware of the conditions, so they are often dismissed as easily as they are brought up.  I hope that you are able to pin point your pain and alleviate it soon!

I do know Herpes can cause some odd sensations in and around the affected area even when no outbreak is present but it shouldn't be anything very severe I would be inclined to pursue this incase there is pelvic inflammation that needs treated .....
