Does this sound like Herpes?

I occasionally, perhaps towards frequently, pimple like bumps on my front and inner thigh, buttocks and sometimes groin area. They are never in clusters and are sometimes painful and sometimes itch. The thing is, I have constant acne or possibly kertosis pilaris on my arms back and wondering if this could be the same thing down there. I am fairly confident that if there was any possibility this could be herpes, it would have been from oral sex. I never have these pimples on my penis as far as I can tell, so it seems odd that if oral was the cause behind this, that it would never occur at the primary site of infection.

already said this doesn't sound like herpes. don't pop things, be seen and get them properly looked at.

Grace,

Thanks, can you please take a look at my last post and tell me what you think? Thanks again.

Thank you both. Sorry for the multiple posts! Ok, so I decided to try and pop one of these bumps and it was kind of difficult to do because it is kind of deep, but I could see a white head to it. Well, a quite small amount of white pus followed by an equally small amount of blood came out and that was it. Does this sound typical of herpes? Thanks again so much. I am getting tested very soon. The only reason I worry so much is that if I have HSV, then my wife most likely does, and she is pregnant, therefore, I am scared to death about this. Thanks again.

this doesn't really sound like herpes going on. try to be seen the next time you have any of these symptoms for a proper work up as well as cover the herpes blood testing base for peace of mind too.

I could say that based on what you've described it doesn't sound like what my understanding of a 'classic' presentation of herpes would be. (ie: patches of blisters). But that doesn't mean anything. Someone else could also just as easily agree or disagree I suppose. It could be the kertosis pilaris you speak of or it could be something else. A doctor is who you need to get an opinion from.

If you wanted to get one of the pimples cultured, that could tell you more about what it is also.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will be tested soon. In your opinion though, does this sounds like HSV? Thanks.

Single pimples not in clusters could be due to a lot of things. But if you really want to explore the possibilty of Herpes, then you just have to get tested to know for sure. If it's been awhile, (at least 2-3 months or more) since you think you may have been exposed by oral sex, then go get a Type 1 specific IGG blood test done (Do not get the IgM test! It's a waste of your money.) If you've possibly been exposed more recently, then maybe abstain from having any oral sex or any possible risk of for a few months then get the IGG so the antibody's have time to develop. If the clinic tells you they want to order the IgM also, insist to them that you don't want it and you do not want to pay money for that. The only reason some clinics draw blood for that one is to supposedly detect the virus in early stages of a new infection. But it's reported by many to be unreliable for specific HSV detection and possibly will give false readings and cross reactions etc. (Which will just confuse you) And some here have said the CDC guidelines do not recommend it for Herpes simplex testing either. So, only order the IGG and come back with results and Grace will give some good feed back .
