"Exposure" Question to Herpes 1 & 2

lkw
Hi there,
I recently went to the dr and did a full screen. Everything was ok except I tested "exposure" for Herpes 1 and 2. I have never had a cold sore OR a genital outbreak.

I had a possible exposure about 2 1/2 weeks ago but I don't have any symptoms?

I am just wondering if this could be wrong? Or if it is right, will I ever break out? I have a lot of autoimmune problems and thought this perhaps could be related.

I was diagnosed to HPV when I was 17, had cryosurgery for pre-cervical cancer, and have never tested positive for HPV again. What's up with that? LOL Could this be the same sort of thing? I got "visually" diagnosed at Planned parenthood when I was 17. So I am just wondering if it could not correct.

Thanks so much!

LK

I think why they said exposed is - you tested + for hsv1 and hsv2 but since you weren't having any obvious symptoms of either they just told you you were exposed in the past. It's a term I wish providers would stop using!!!

It appears that you were infected with both prior to your encounter that led you to get tested.

Okay, the nurse said;

simplex 1   4.46
simplex 2   4.09

Thanks Grace. Yes, the nurse said "expose" and I thought that was weird. I will call them and get my numbers.

Thank you so much.

there isn't any such thing as being merely exposed to herpes.  I can better help you if you can post the numeric results of your blood test - ie hsv1 igg .45 and hsv2 igg .24 or whatever they are.

Most hpv infections will clear themselves from the body within 2 years.  Not testing positive for hpv since you were 17 is completely normal and actually should be expected.
