Hi,

I really admire what you guys are doing.

I have few things I am trying to get some clarity on specially related to herpes and it's test.

I have been with over 10 + woman either via relationship or one night stands. I always used protection with one night stands for sex but not oral.

I have been tested for all stds but herpes in my life since my last oral encounter 5 months ago.
1 month ago I was involved in a mutual masterbation with a stripper, which I hope is not sti risk?

Now I started to get worried about herpes since I met a girl, we like each other a lot. We want to take our relationship to next level. I can never forgive myself is something happens to her because of me.

1) I know testing is the only to be sure about herpes too I guess?

I had on and off rashes on my penis head and foreskin for 3 months. When I tried otc clotrimazole it went away and keep coming back. I don't if it has anything to do with sti.

2) What are my chances of this being an sti specially herpes?

3) How long will it take to get herpes test results?

I really appreciate some response.

Sorry I didn't really understand on how to get the prescription. Sorry my mind is not working today. Can you please make it a bit more clearer

It's too late to find another Dr. And get prescription for IgG test and I can't cancel my test appointment since it's too late :(

My Dr said he wants me to get tested for IgM only and he won't give me prescription for IgG.

No no no.lol no igm testing please. They have many false positives and are only viable for a few weeks after exposure. Most of the experts do not recommend igm hsv tests. Tell your Dr you want type specific igg test for hsv 1 and 2

Just one piece of information. My doctor ordered igm test not igg

The fact that you keep reading all this information is not helping you. Anything under a 3.5 on the igg test needs to be confirmed.  I always recomend the western blot for confirmation.
Just get the test and stop with all of this nonsense. Stop reading into every obscure detail. A lot of what you will read is over dramatic and or out of context.

I read that hsv1 can cross react with hsv2 from a doctor on healthtap. That is one of the reason hsv2 screening is not part of routine std screening. That is really really scary

I feel the need to step in on the fear aspect. You think you will keep if you don't know? Like life said i am sure your fine as well but giving her hsv will be worse. Especially when it's already on your mind.
Courage is doing something for the greater good even though it scares the poop out of you. If you truely love her than do all you can to protect her!!! Man up and get tested. I guarantee you will feel better.

Test for both for the protection of others. If you have hsv1 oral from childhood and she doesnot then she can contract it from you.

If we end up assuming then won't it be better to test just for hsv2 since 65% of normal people have hsv1.

Sorry I am still trying to understand the benefits of getting tested for hsv1

I said almost always not never. If a person has hsv2 its almost certainly genital as having it oral is quite rare but hsv1 is a little more prone to the genital area but again if tested positve it could be assumed oral. Unless a person has a swab of an active sore, one could safely assume the location.
