Gave him oral sex 3 days before hsv1 outbreak.

Hi, on Thursday July 6 I gave my bf oral sex and 3 days later ( Sun.July 9 ) had an outbreak on my lip.Since I was little I've been getting coldsores( 2-3 a year) . Im very worried I may have transmitted this to his genitals. My understanding is that the virus can be transmitted during the prodrome phase and from multiple sites I've been reading, prodrome can last between 30 minutes to 2 days. Although I gave him oral 3 days before the active outbreak, would this be considered a low risk transmission ? I know nothing is ever risk free.

Thanks

You never know when the virus will spread due to asymptomatic shedding. You have oral hsv1 so he is at risk for contracting it genitally from oral sex. Your recent encounter 3 days before outbreak isn't any more risky than usual. He can get tested as he may have oral hsv1 and not get cold sores ( very common) all in all don't be overly concerned about tbis last exposure.
