Herpes...?

I was tested for Herpes 1&2. My result was IgG>5 and IgM positive. They told me I have HSV-2 and was infected recently. How accurate is this? Was I for sure infected recently?  I have never had symptoms of an outbreak. Are the antibodies detected only for fighting off herpes? Could they be detected but fighting off something else? Is there no way of my results being false?

No, I've never been tested before because I never felt the need to..I never had any symptoms which now I see is besides the point. I have a regular partner but I was promiscuous in my past years and there have been incidents of infidelity with my current partner..perfect scenario for getting it. thank you for answering my posts

the herpes igm being positive is meaningless but that's probably why you were told it's a recent infection.

If your hsv2 is greater than 5 then you are hsv2+.  You could've contracted it a few weeks ago, a few months ago or a few years ago. do you know if you've ever been tested for herpes before?

do you have a regular partner?
