HSV 1 Risk

Hey everyone. I made out with someone and after they told me they have oral herpes. They had no sore or symptoms at the time. Anyone know the risk of getting oral herpes from an asymptomatic/dormant person?

We don't have stats for oral hsv1 transmission. We do know that 67% of people under 50 have it globally. Most don't ever get symptoms.

You might already have it and not know it. If you've made out with others, at least some have had it.

Your parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles probably do, too. You could have gotten it as a child from a relative who kissed you.

My point is that while it's understandable that no one wants it, it's so common that it would be impossible to avoid and nothing to panic about.

You can get an hsv1 IgG blood test, but know that it misses 30% of infections, so no test is ever truly conclusive.
